Here is a GREAT girl group website with tons of downloads of rare girl group goodies! http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/jantanzy/45457175.html Unfortunately, it is mostly in Japanese but you can figure it all out (titles and singers names) rather quickly. He posts "Guess Who" downloads where you try to guess who is singing and what. Other groups of 24 mp3s are available with titles and songs. Check it out! |

I found this site years ago and downloaded some of the pix.As this was before discovering downloading I never realised I could capture all this stuff and play it on the Media Player. However I'm now well into it having created around 100 CD ROMS which will hold 65 mgs of music ie over 200 songs. This one is of music I give first priority to-the PIXIE GIRL. And I managed to download over 200 of the mp3s-which are in the main authentic Pixie Girl-only a handful are more Northern Soul and apart from a few not working there may be new ones going in as some of the letters of the alphabet are missing. Its not as much being in Japanese as its loaded with ????? on every page.Takes some moving around you just have to persevere. And right now I got a CD ROM of 11 hours of music called TOTAL PIXIE GIRL http://groups.yahoo.com/group/highschoolpoppers Mostly girl singers of the 60s plus Beatles, instrumentals,a few guys |

On the Japanese site are over 100 Pixie Girls who are pretty obscure and many sound like Andrea Carroll or Robin Ward. Thus the biggest guns of the Pixie Girl World are not as promonent as say Little Jonna Jay-who sounds like Brenda Lee. So not too much Leslie Gore or Shelley Fabares but their soundalikes are there eg Linda Lloyd who cut 4 singles for Columbia and never even got to visit the One Hit Wonder Club! Her version of A Cock Eyed Optimist is as great as Hell. The first Pixie Girl was probably ANNETTE who was followed by DODIE STEVENS but by the next decade was in full swing and given a massive shot in the arm by the British Invasion if the 20 CD set I have of Beatles Novelties is anything to go by. Pixie Girl pop was basically white though a few black singers would qualify eg the Cookies or any black girls who sounded white.Nothing is ever that simple anyway-as many like Connie Stevens had real Pixie Girl voices ans sung Brill Building songs. Britain had its share of Pixie Girls especially Carol Deene who seems to have had just one single issued in the States. The Pixie Girl ran till the end of the 60s with SANDY POSEY as the one who carried the torch though she was known as a country singer LESLIE GORE is represented by just one song but is available anywhere-which Andrea Carroll or Robin Ward aren't except on import. I take it more stuff will be added-nothing beginning with "I" for instance. Its also rather puzzling that Japan is the only country in the World with CATHY BRASHER things-I got 2 photos of her off here years ago and then found one as she is today http://groups.yahoo.com/group/highschoolpoppers Mostly girl singers of the 60s plus Beatles, instrumentals,a few guys |
