Here is a letter I found at the university of moncton dated September 13 1875 written to Ramean St.Pierre.I translated the letter as best I could.Sir ,having seen last spring a letter sent to Father Lefevre signed by you which was published in the Moniteur Acadien and where you were seeking information of a certain family of Bergeron dit D'Amboise and their origin.Seeing this information regards me, I have written to Canada for my grandfather's death certificat and my father's marriage certificat. I don't know if this will be sufficient , if not let me know what other papers I need. In regards to my grandfather his name was Joseph Bergeron dit D'Amboise. He came from France around 1720 and settled in Acadie and later settled in Canada where he died October 7 1808 at the age of 88.I cannot tell you what department in France he came from. It is so long ago that I don't remember. But I believe that you could know what department that he was born. He often talked to my father of a great wealth that they had in France if they could get it. After his death there was one of my uncles who left Canada to go get my father's birth certificat in Acadie in hopes of collecting the wealth, but there were no roads to get there besides a wood road and its lenghth was 500 to 600 miles, loneliness and not being able to speak english he got discouraged and came back. But I believe all his travelling was worthless because during the dispersion of the acadians all the churches were looted and burned. So I am asking you, you who has done so much for the poor acadians, I believe in you and I believe if there is a great heritage in France in the name of the Bergeron Dit D'Amboise and if you can get it for me I would be very greatful. Your humble servant Joseph Bergeron D'Amboise.note there were other ancestors beside Joseph who died in 1808 which ascends to Barthelemy Dit D'Amboise. But this was what my great great grandfather believed. He died in 1893.It was very exciting to come across this information.
