I don't have a recipe to share but a kind of funny story about one.> About 5 years ago, for my dad's 82nd birthday I decided to make him> poutine rapee. (I hope I spelled that right) Anyway, he remembers his> mom making them for him when he was a child and I decided that I could> certainly do that for him. Well, not knowing what the heck poutine> rapee was I found a recipe on the internet and decided how hard could it> be. Following the directions, I peeled and shredded most of the 10> pounds of potatoes leaving enough to cook and mash according to the> directions. I even went out and bought expensive pork tenderloin to put> in the middle instead of a cheaper cut of pork. After all it was his> birthday! So after what seemed like hours peeling and shredding those> potatoes the instructions told me to "squeeze most of the water out of> the shredded potatoes but not too much". Well, how would I know how> much was too much, I'd never made these things before. I finally got> all of those potato "ball's" shaped and filled with pork in the center> and dropped them into a big pot of boiling water. Now the instructions> said to boil these for 3 hours. It never said to turn the pot down to a> simmer. (Believe me I checked later) So 3 hours later I had the nicest> pot of wallpaper paste you've ever seen in your life with little pieces> of pork floating in the bottom of the pan.
