Well I must share this with you, I was told by my aunt that my father's grandmother Marie Martin married to Narcisse Chase was walking along the road one day and she was carrying this branch (maybe she was using it to support her), when she saw something in the ditch, thinking it was a dog she hit it with the stick, but what came out of the ditch was not a dog but it was a bear. It attacked Marie, and it chewed part of her side, she died of her wounds.
