Hello,Its a great site you have set up, I offer my greatest congratulations on finding all this information and putting it in one very convenient place! TV-Ark is a great site to find things about all the old satellite stuff, as well as the old cable channels. I remember the days of Analogue Astra, I used to really like Cartoon Network, and the thing I don't understand is they were FTA then, only to be not now, it is a great channel, and I would like to have it again. Again, your site is great, and the new look makes it even better!Kevin. |

HI Well because my parents had satellite tv which was a luxury as my friend didn't so popped round my house i think the channels are great back then and the idents and logo's were excellent. Glad you like my site.Keep returning for your memories. http://satgold.blogspot.com the old days of astra/bsb satellite days and programming also tv idents/clips. |

Yeah, it was good finding that channel line up from '96, quite interesting looking at the Cartoon Network one. I thought it was TCM it shared with, but still this was a long time ago. Remember FilmNet from then? We got FilmNet 1 but not 2. And we can't forget TV1000... |

Cartoon network shared with TNT before it became TCM remember tnt aired wcw wrestling friday nights.Filmnet was good when it was unscrambled when it was for previews and then scrambled when the films started. http://satgold.blogspot.com the old days of astra/bsb satellite days and programming also tv idents/clips. |

Those were the Good Ol' Days wern't they.. We used to have a movable dish on our house, from Eutelsat HotBird 1 to Astra, and Thor and the rest. We had a pirate card too, think we've still got it somewhere... Do you have any of the coding software? I found this one: Multimac, would you like a copy of it? |

I don't have satellite tv no more.Never had eutelsat/intelsat just astra 1a 1b 1c 1d.Just got cable tv now. Sky digital has to many channels and ain't worth watching ,like shopping tv,golf,tv etc. http://satgold.blogspot.com the old days of astra/bsb satellite days and programming also tv idents/clips. |

Well, originally we had just a stand alone dish, pointing at Eutelsat, I think at 19 East, but we had the extension built, so we put a motor on it. Remember the big pay-per-view boxing fight on Sky, and we got it for free on TV1000 :). |

I thought tv 1000 was encrypted along with tv3. http://satgold.blogspot.com the old days of astra/bsb satellite days and programming also tv idents/clips. |

Not if you had a EuroCrypt decoder card, the internet, and a dish pointing at Eutelsat. :) We didn't watch TV3, but TV1000 we did, although that was mainly FilmNet because of its better film times. |

Well, I put it up today, first looking at Atlantic Sat 3 (5W) for the French channels. Our old Amstrad receiver can't go up that high, so we can only go up to 1264ghz, on a universal LNB. I then pointed it at Astra (19E), and got about 50 channels (mostly German, but hey), then, after that, I got out my friends ex Sky digibox, and tried to get a signal, but after much tweaking, no luck. I'm now pointing it at 5W to try to get a channel, and some luck, but now I'm trying to find the code to get into storing it!Not bad for a 80cm dish sitting on the garden, pointing at god knows where... |

just like them old astra boxes the first went up to 16 channels for astra 1a and if needed 1b,1c needed a new box or adapter.Strange thing was that the astra 1d channels were actually receiveable on the actually tv not the satellite channel. http://satgold.blogspot.com the old days of astra/bsb satellite days and programming also tv idents/clips. |

I got the code for the box, but I did something really stupid. I put the phone line in. I got into the installer menu, and did a 'new installation', where it searched for channels, then called back to Sky. Little prats. It then checks my phone number, and says 'not your card, zap!', so now I have a useless card. Well, I didn't want BBC TWO Wales anyway. |

Just wanted to say, what a great site ! the memories have come flooding back. The excitement of getting our first dish, and learning the art of channel-hopping. We got our first system in 1992, and have vivid memories of watching the Lifestyle Jukebox, and seeing " Hello" by Twinkle several times an hour !!! and of course the novelty of dropping into RTL late on a Friday night ! - where have all the years gone ??? |

The good old days have gone and the good channels have gone and expanded in to extra channels and +1 channels.mtv is not what it use to be now every channel seems to want a phone in quiz. http://satgold.blogspot.com Memories of astra /bsb satellite days. |

agree totally on MTV - I used to watch it every day, but for me it was spoilt when they started the regular Beavis and Butt-head thing, I may be in the minority, but I really didnt like it, and in fact don't think I have even dropped into MTV at all in the past five years or so. |
