The irony of all the paranoia and hatred of psychiatry and psychology (and the most like reason for it) is that scientology uses many forms of psychological methods in a negative way on it's members.The TR's are deliberately repetative and tedious to systematically turn off the critical part of the mind and create a docile and susectable subject.Only positive messages about the "tech" are permitted within the organisation to create a concencous that it's working and to dispel doubts.As there are no real scientific facts about the "tech" working- testimonials are used (and have to be given) to reassure people that it's working and that if an individual has doubts it's wrong.
