Hi, everyone! Here's another update on our Lacey. She is wonderful!! Actually, last September (Sept '08) was a breakthrough month for our girl. She decided that she didn't always want to wait for our assistance to get to her feet and began getting up on her own!! Through the winter months, she continued to do this, sometimes getting up on her own, sometimes with assistance.Looking back, I think that alot of times she could have gotten up on her own, but she is a light wool llama and I think she wanted to stay in cush to keep her legs warm! She also caught on very quickly that my husband (who is a big brawny dude!) could put her on her feet whether she wanted to get up or not, and now if he just calls out to her, "Lacey! Time to get up!" she is on her feet in an instant. She is getting better, stronger and more coordinated as time goes on. Of course she and our other llamas are on a religious regimen of meningeal worm prevention so we have hopefully removed the probability of this ever being a problem again. Lacey's damaged knee appears to have stabilized itself very well, and, with veterinary advice, I have put her on Cosequin , which she will continue for life. Upon observation, you can see that Lacey has a slight head tilt, a slight lateral wave to her neck, and her forelegs and hindlegs don't exactly move in unison( the front moves more quickly than the rear). But she is loving life and we are so glad she is still with us! Annette
