Author Topic:   New Forum??
Chris posted 10/27/06 3:18 PM
I was thinking about making a new forum.
Advantages:
It can be customised much more.
Topics can be grouped
Topics can be viewed by certain people only (So committee can discuss things etc..) - But you'd have to log in.
You can have your own little picture.

Have a look at:
http://s2.excoboard.com/exco/index.php?boardid=24038
Let me know what you think, ignore the colours they can be changed.
I'll go with the consensus.

The new forum is good but I think the old one has the advantage that it's open to anyone. If there can be NO adverts on the new one then I'd go for that. The old one is probably simpler to use and requires less space ie easier to download. Hmmm I'm not sure to be honest!

The new one will be open to anyone, you can post without being a member, but you can also have a members only section. I was thinking the about simplicity of the current one.

There can be no adverts, but you have to pay for it. Its something like $30 for 5000 visits to the message board.

Purely on the bases of aesthetics I would go with the new forum.
Only questions would be:
Do we need topics to viewable by selected people only?
How much effort is it for you to change over to and administer the new forum?

Its pretty easy to do. Its not much hastle. The groups where only certain people can read might be useful for announcing teams, talking about tactics and any other stuff we might not want the opposition to know about.
