25 years ago I was involved in a gifted program, and many of the lessons have stuck with me. For years gifted education has suffered tremendous cuts, to the point of extinction. I believe the only way to change this paradigm is to prove the value of gifted education. Problem is, honestly I don't think anyone knows. I'm guessing there somewhere around 20,000 adults in Ontario who went through a gifted program as children. How did it benefit them? How did it change their life? How did gifted education benefit society? I think it would be very interesting to create a network of 'gifted adults' ('former gifted children' sounds like one of those stupid 'where are they now?' shows...) to answer some of those fundamental questions. Anyone game?

This is an open invitation to post your contact information here as a group is forming in Ontario to represent all the gifted students who have passed through gifted programs in Ontario schools. They will be leaving their message here for you. Stay tuned.

I think that I was probably gifted but never realized until I had gifted children. I'm game.

I was part of a program in Eastern Ontario for a year, then was homeschooled until high school. I am very interested to hear how it impacted others.
