What's the latest with the new web site? Is it fully up and running or still under test? When you google Derby Mercury you get the old home page but the title is Autumn tints, which is less than ideal! |

The website can be set live at any time, I was waiting for the nod from Dave. I notice that Clive had been updating the TT section (cheers). All we need to do is sort a google sitemap out and then change the settings so that www.derbymercury.gov.uk goes to the new site. |

If anybody has any ideas for the site, post them here! I've put all the info from the old site on to it, Clive's edited the TT section. I've added a more advanced forum (stores all posts, searchable, more sections etc), I've put an events section up so that people can add races/events etc to a calendar. I've also just put on a training log - once you register and log in you can log all your rides (and runs, swims & gym work) so that you get weekly/monthly/yearly logs of distance and time training. Anybody got any other ideas or features they would like to see... |

I'd keep it simple. |

Simple! I like simple!! ;-) Although being sad I also like to keep a log of my training (by the way it's only 4h13m00s of cycling and 0h45m00s running this month! - need to sort that out!) |

Would it be possible to have a 'routes' section where gpx files could be uploaded and viewed? I guess it would look similar to the section you have created showing the TT routes. |

how about a members section with all of us on and a pic of each maybe? how about a pool of training rides and maps to accompany them? so all can share routes etc - i'm getting board of the ones I do now. could have severity/difficulty ratings and whether night time friendly for the shorter ones(street lit etc). Also I like the training log idea but what about some suggested training plans (or specific training types for certain goals) for beginners? (I include myself in that). A bit more info on other local open TT courses riders could consider entering (again maybe with maps). A bike maintenenace section? - for idiots like myself that struggle to differentiate between one end of a spanner and the other (maybe just tips or FAQs to start with then build a data base up with members/riders contributions?)- a tech section with riders reviewing/rating the kit they buy (and maybe warning others not to!) |

speak for yourself! - just thought it would help new members recognise/remember people a bit easier. I bet I still dont know half the mercury riders out there... depends on how people feel about confidentiality I guess. The dodgy ones with murky pasts... hmm..I can think of a few! :) |

I'm not sure about photos of members.I think there may be a case for pics of the Committee members etc, but beyond that...?Some of us have enemies you know, and its amazing how many poeple dont understand why men shave their legs! |

I'm not sure we need training logs, maintenance tips, routes etc on the club site just because these things already exist on the internet for those that want them. That's my take anyway. |

I'm in favour of simple. Let's get the basics on there and focus on keeping them up to date to attract people in. We've got no cyclo-cross page, only one page each on road racing and mountain biking, nothing on all the audaxes and sportives people can do etc etc. As far as training diaries go I've used excel for years. No need to log on to the net or struggle with connection speed, can manipulate data any way I want etc. etc. Happy to add TT course details when I get time. |

Should we fix a date to go live with the new site then ? Change this one to a simple page with redirect ? I haven't really used the RR section of the new one much and I'm not updating it as I'm assuming it's still a prototype. Is this something that needs to go to committee - and when is the next meeting btw ? |

Been giving the go-ahead to 'go live' from Dave, just need to sort a few bits out first (google sitemap etc). I agree, putting maintenance sections on might be getting a bit over complicated. Isn't that what the forum is for, asking questions and getting advice. |

i've added a cyclo-cross section, although since I've never done it I don't really know much about it so have bundled some info together. Anyone want to take a look, make changes, recommendations etc.? |

I've altered the events section so that there is an 'other' category people can add audax and sportive events to. |

RE TT Courses, Clive do you use your Garmin GPS in TTs? If so do you upload to any sites like www.motionbased.com? |

Found this on the web, might be nice to use it for the 'Club History' Page. http://bygonederbyshire.co.uk/articles/Mercury_celebrates_70_years_of_pedal_power |

Might be best to ask some of the longer serving members about that - as I remember it there was some concern that that article had been written without anyone's knowledge - I can't comment on it's accuracy though. |
