Tom and i have been talking and agree we should have a meeting to discuss ways of trying to attract new younger members to the club. Neither of us are clear on the way to progress, but with some collective input we hope we can come up with some good ideas. My initial thought is to speak to say Solihull CC officials and explain what were trying to do and ask how they went about attracting, then supporting young riders to their club. Does that sound a reasonable starting point ? I propose a meeting within the next 2 weeks at location to be decided to discuss. Any interested parties, please post on here. Thanks

Steve,I will be happy to help. Last night we had a 15 year old girl visit the club with her father who wished to get involved in cycling. A fact sheet would have been useful with relevant information about the club, what is available for younger riders and what kit they should be buying. Please let me know the meeting details.

Steve - I'd name the date and venue and see who turns up - Tuesday may be good, if not in the clubroom then straight after as a lot of people are out anyway - but it's your call. I suggested on Jonny O Brien's drink thread to combine it with that.

Ok. How does this coming Tuesday sound at the Abbey Pub in Darley Abbey. What time suits most best ?

If someone new turns up at the club, best thing is to give them a copy of the club mag. There are usually spare copies kept in bett's 'tin', or at least there used to be. The mag contains all the contact details and events list on the back so at least its a start.

Yes if anyone reads this in time - is there a meeting/drink/anything tonight - I'll probably go on the steady group and then home and come back out anyway as I've got some stuff to go through with DaveL - so if there is a meeting I'll be there.
