The meeting with Dave Clasby has been arranged for this Tuesday at the clubhouse. This is re. a proposed road/track cycling facility near the cricket club. I've emailed local clubs - if anyone knows of anyone that might be useful to put the case such a facility will be well used - especially maybe by kids/teenagers as this plays well with the council - then please invite them along. I hope we didn't have anything planned at the clubhouse for that night apologies if we did if so then we can have the meeting at the Abbey.

Tom, well done for arranging the meeting. There was an excellent turn out, and hopefully something really good can come of it....

What sort of track is being proposed?

The consensus seemed to be that if it went ahead - which is unlikely - it would be something like a 330m outdoor velodrome next to the cricket ground.

This one seems to have gone by me. Very interested in hearing the detail and willing so assist given my expertise in funding and development. East Midlands now desperate for velodrome and post olympics there may be a wave of enthusiasm. Or is it the rose tinted specs again on my part!

Nick - I think you can do two things. One is to draft a letter of support and get as many local clubs to agree it as possible - then post it to relevant local council officers and members - maybe others. Two is phone Dave Clasby and ask him if you can assist at all. Apart from that I'm not sure there is much that can be done without spending huge amounts of time for little chance of success - but those two things might be worth it imo. Let us know.

Do the council own a suitable site that could be leased at a peppercorn rent?

This may be of interest, though it is dated 2007. New velodrome in Leicester?http://www.roadcyclinguk.com/news/article/mps/uan/2727Also of interest has anyone seen the state Saffron Lane velodrome in Leicester is in these days. An absolute travesty it's been allowed to fall into such a state. Planning has been put in to build houses on the site.http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=26695

Ok so url's don't paste into this forum, guess you'll have to type them in yourself if you want to see. Sorry about that.

Trouble is the site is probably worth £1m per acre as housing land so.....
