Hi All ... countless of times I've been asked for referrals for different parts of the US and the rest of the world. Perhaps you might start listing yourselves here? I'll make up a formal webpage soon for this but for now, simply feel free to list your name, location, type of care you provide and how you can be contacted? Thanks! *S* --Gwen

I've just seen your site, and thought I'd toss my name in. :) I too am looking for more barefoot practitioners to whom to refer people across the United States - and even globally.

Hi Marian. Thanks! :) Perhaps between two or more of us we'll get a good list going. If you would refer people here, that would be helpful. Think I'll also set up a "sign up" type of list where one can list their trim services automatically so I don't have to manually type in everyone's info. :) -- Gwen

I live in Northeast Kansas, have two wonderful Curly horses, keep them barefoot and can't find a barefoot trimmer!! There is someone about 45 miles away, but she won't travel here to trim. I have a farrier who is attempting to do the trim based on the diagrams and printed copies of instructions that I have given him, but it's not coming out the way I know is possible.

I would urge you to learn to do the barefoot trim yourself. Along with Gwen's website, check out ironfreehoof.com and Marjorie's website barefoothorse.com Google Pete Ramey and check out his website for addtionla inspiration. My sister and I are both older women (45 and 46) and we studied these websites until we were completely saturated, and then we studied them some more. My sister took one of Pete Ramey's clinics, and honed her skills even more. We always trimmed our horses cautiously, and we built up speed as the months went by. Since we have 25 horses, mostly rescues, we've saved a ton of money, and our horses hooves are much healthier now that we've given up the traditional farrier route. Now we can trim (I say "we" because we work as a team: Heidi trims and rasps, and I put on the mustang roll. Saves the back!) Also, invest in a "hoofjack" which supports the hoof as you do the work. Again, saves the back. You can do this, and I'll bet that with the right instruction, you will be as good, probably better, than the average local trimmer. We'll never go back to the traditional shoes and pasture trim. Good luck! If we can do it, you can, too!

I completed the 2005-2006 NA Strasser hoofcare professionals course(the ONLY one in North Carolina). I also worked with Nancy Filbert, fSHP who trained with Dr. Strasser. I am available for consultations, and trimming to certain clients. I have an excellent barefoot presentation with power point program and lots of teaching aides as I was formerly a scientific illustrator/artist (I used to illustrate dissection guides, etc for teaching biology) I am also a horse behavior expert and appraiser.
