Can anyone help me discover the title of an old Sacred Harp song / recording I heard on a radio station in the 70's. Verses I remember were: I lay my burded down, and I lay down my sword and shield. Thanking you in advance

Those 2 lines are in "Down by the Riverside," but it is not a Sacred Harp song. So, I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for.

Could you possibly be thinking of # 42, "Clamanda" ?Say, now ye lovely social band,Who walk the way to Canaan’s land;Ye who have fled from Sodom’s plain,Say do you wish to turn again?Oh have you ventured to the field,Well armed with helmet, sword and shield? And shall the world, with dread alarms,Compel you now to ground your arms?
