Thanks to my new friend Annie Grieshop, I've learned of this forum in time.This is an open invitation to all singers and beginners and not, to come support the first singing school scheduled for Saturday May 10th, from 9:30am to 2:30 pm at the Mandeville City Hall, Mandeville Louisiana, with a break for a Louisiana lunch of jambalaya, gumbo and salad (if we can't lure you with our ability, we'll draw you with our food!) John Merritt of Gautier, Miss has graciously offered to teach and lead.Most of the world is weary of hearing about Katrina, but I can testify that for the folks of this region, her effects are still felt and dealt with daily. The town of Mandeville, where our singing school is being held, was classified as 40% destroyed by the storm - and we were the fortunate ones. The rebuilding and in some cases, not rebuilding process as exacted a substantial emotional, physical, spiritual and financial toll on the people here.Those of us who sing, know the mystical power of the experience. My fervent hope is that our folks here who are called to come to this singing school will have the opportunity to taste even the smallest sip from the well that is Sacred Harp...Any singers who can join us and help make that happen will be a blessing.We have approximately 28-30 people (nearly all brand new) already registered.
