Mark Freed is my Appalachian Music professor at Appalachian State University, and is the director of Watauga Arts Council in Boone. Mark can tell you everything where all the music is located.Yesterday at ASU was a Sacred Harp meeting at the University. Free and open to the public when they have these events.

You have perfect timing in asking about Louisiana singings! On Saturday, May 10th, you'll have a chance to get in on the ground floor a new one on in Mandeville. A singing school is being offered at the Mandeville City Hall, from 9:30am to 2:30 pm -- and it's going to be great! They'll provide books and teach you all you need to get started singing. No experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome. There aren't any regular monthly singings in Louisiana (yet), but you can find singings in other states by visiting the website below.
