According to my grandmother, my great-great grandfather, Joel A. Higgins, was a Sacred Harp singer. He lived in Haralson County, Georgia, born: January 17, 1842, died: August 24, 1875. Has anyone seen his name in any of the old minutes of any of the singing conventions?

I also have a great grandfather who was known as a harp singer in and around Knox, Roane and Anderson counties in Tennessee. His name was Andrew Jackson Roberts ("Uncle Jack"), born 1834 and died after 1920. If there are any references to him I would appreciate the information.

Hello cousin!! Joel A. Higgins was my great-great-great grandfather. I cannot say 100% that he was a sacred harp singer, but given the area and time that he lived it is very probable he was. I will e-mail you other info I have about him.
