SEATTLE, WA - Suspicion runs rampant among Pike Place team members as some are claiming that Pike Place starting quarterback Captain Whidbey has been betting against his own team, trying to purposely lose games and collecting on the bets. "I don't know, but it's kind of fishy if you ask me," said an unnamed Fish Flinger as he chewed on some smoked salmon. "Well, let's see, he leads the league in interceptions," said another unnamed player. "One key interception cost us the game against the Buckets. Two interceptions against West Coast made things difficult for us, but luckily the rest of the team made up for it and we were able to get the win." "Don't forget he also fumbled against the Buckets, leading to another one of their scores," said another unnamed player. "You know, he did take a recent trip to Vegas with Bugsy Segal and Machinegun Kelly of Savannah. Anyone who hangs out with guys that have ties to the Mob gotta be suspicious." Captain Whidbey could not be reached for comment, as he took a short trip to Yukon territory to gamble at Goat Palace. This is yet another action that brings Swingin' Wang under suspicion of being involved in conspiracies against Pike Place. A team investigation is pending. If it's found that Whidbey has been trying to throw games so that he could collect on bets, Chief Sealth will be promoted to the starting position. |
