After the first season of the WFFL, the Oregon City Pioneers have a new owner and coach. Chris Canaan, after going 6-4 with the Pioneers, sold the team to Jim Krieger, who has now taken over the team as both coach and owner. To the disappointment of many of the fans in Oregon City and the state of Oregon, the team is being moved to the Seattle area. "I am disgusted that Krieger is moving the team after only one season," said one angry fan. "You can be sure that I'll be rooting against him now." Some fans are so angry that Krieger has received death threats. "One person left a message on my answering machine, " said Krieger. "He said that if I moved the team, I would have to prepare myself to meet Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. Another person told me to not go to any local Starbuck's, otherwise I might find myself consuming a cyanide-laced Frappucino." Other fans were upset the team was moving, but would still stick by the team. "Hey, the team is still in the Northwest", said another fan. "I'll most likely take trips up to Seattle to watch them play." After the move, the team will be relocated to Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. The team is named after the fishmongers and catchers who hurl 30-lb salmon to entertain crowds at this famous market. Krieger recently came out of retirement to coach the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL league and the Rainier Sasquatch in the NSFL. How can Krieger find the time to handle three teams? "It will be tought", said Krieger. "I'm handling front office duties and coaching duties for all three teams. Still, I think I'll manage." Krieger will be implementing an aggressive, attack-style of defense, putting 8 men in the box and often bringing up to 10 men to the line of scrimmage. His defensive schemes are based on variations of Buddy Ryan's infamous 46 Bear defense, as well as the "Purple Haze" defensive scheme which led the University of Washington to a co-national title in 1991. It was Krieger's defense that led him to winning two of three championships and numerous division titles in his seven seasons as head coach of the Skagit Valley Mohawks in the now defunct Northwest league. His defensive style led his peers to nickname him "Lambo", after Jim Lambright, the former defensive coordinator of the Washington Huskies who implemented this defensive scheme that led the university to so much success in the early '90's. "Yes, I designed my defense after Lambright's," said Krieger, "and also after Buddy Ryan. We get a lot of success out of it, but we also occassionally get burned with big plays. That's the price you pay when you play an aggressive style like we do." Many Seattle fans are excited about the team moving into the area. Seattle already has two major football squads...the Seattle Seahawks and the Rainier Sasquatch (of which Lambo is coach). What do some fans think of another team coming to the area? "I can't wait," said one fan. "If Lambo takes this team to the Insane Bowl, it will definitely make these Autumn overcast days in Seattle much more bearable!" |

After losing the big game the city Yukon has lost patience with coach Wang and has not renewed the Goatmens lease on Headbutt Stadium. 3 trips to the SB(2 in PCPFL 1 in WFFL) have come up empty and the city of Yukon dosent think Wang can win the big one. "Seeing how our beloved state of Washington is being poulluted by another team, we have decided to move the team to Kitsap county and become the Kitsap Krusty's. We need a team the state can be proud of!! Look for coach Herschel Krustofsky to take offensive coordinator position and Groundskeeper Willie to shore up the defensive side. |

Aha it appears as though Kitsap was not a good fit for Wang and he has decided to return them to Yukon! [This message has been edited on 12/25/2003] |
