Having now left the Hunt to travel alone to find his true path once again, Jonas is filled with ideas as to where his path will lead him. Should he go home to see his mother? should he try to find his lost blood brother, Bultar?. He could do both of these he thought, but would he have time?

The hours drove on, his step was sure yet he was still unsure on what to do.

Jonas stopped walking and looked up to the sky, it had got dark and he had not noticed. He gathered wood for a small fire to cook his food on, only to realise once he had it going that he had no food. Of all the things to forget this was truely the most stupid. He looked to the sky and smiled.

"Looks like im going to have to hunt tonight then. Its been a while."

He added more wood to make sure the fire would last untill he returned with meat to cook. preparing for his hunt, he removed his fur as the smell would alert any prey he would be trying to catch. He really did need to wash them. Retrieving his sword from the cold ground he set off into the darkness to listen for any sound of deer or wild pig. For what seemed like hours he waited in the darkness, unmoving. The slightest sound would alert his prey. Then he heard it, the snuffling and snorting of a wild pig. He waited for it to come closer, it could not be more that 10 feet away. It came closer. Seven feet. Still he waited, holding his breath. It reached 5 foot and he charged. Swinging his magical blade he screamed with rage, landing a mighty blow on the beasts head killing it. He was lucky he had the element of supprise as these creatures are dangerous to the untrained.

Picking up the creature by the back legs he started his walk back to his fire. The meat would be tough, but that didnt matter. He was hungry so anything would do.

Having cooked and eaten Jonas sat by his fire and thought on his path.
It had stuck in his mind for so long he wondered why he hadnt decided to do it long ago.

It was well overdue. So long had it been since he had visited the grave of his wife and child.

The night passed with an eerie silence that Jonas didnt like. He had seen so much battle recently, the quiet worried him now. Dawn broke and the sun shined off of the sew covered grass around his small now dead fire, the remains of the wild pig in a bloody heap by the side.

"suppose it time to travel" he said to himself as he rose from his bedroll.

Packing his things into his backpack he ran over the route to his intended destination in his mind. It was only a few days walk he figured, so long as it was uneventful. But wheres the fun in that? he thought to himself letting out a small chuckle as he did so.

As he stood with his belongings on him, he thought of Goldar. He was sure the calm warrior would be fine. In fact he knew he would be. He missed his company and always interesting conversation. But some things just have to be done alone. Not even goldar knew of his past, Of his loss, the source of most of his anger.

Shaking such thoughts from his head he started to walk in the direction he would never forget.

Day after day pass without event. Jonas hunted at night using the ways his father taught him as a child. He missed his father greatly, he was always a rock to hold on to in a storm. A level headed giant of a man who never once lost his temper in front of Jonas when he was younger. Jonas's only fault he could find with him was that he had the strength to be a great warrior or something of the like, but never used it. He saw violence as a last resort and always said "Fighting is for a man who has no other option or for a fool who hasnt the brains to talk it through". He was correct in most parts, but Jonas couldnt agree with him on this, many a night they sat up debating it.

On the tenth day he arrived at their graves. The grass had overgrown so much that he nearly walked past them. He spent the day clearing the ground and cutting down the grass with his dagger. As evening came he sat by the grave of his wife and child and thought of their short time together before the bandits came and killed them. The time before his rage manifested and took control.

He stood, covered in blood, a wood axe in his firm grip. With his lips drawn back in a feral snarl he looked like some kind of demon. An evil being from the depths of hell.

"please! no! It wasnt me!!" his opponent begged for his life. He was to late. The monster had begun to swing the heavy weapon. The axe, usually used to chop limbs of wood, worked just as well on limbs of people as it clove through the murderous bandits neck, removing his head clean from his shoulders, but he didnt stop there. Again and again he swung the weapon into the torso, legs and arms untill there was nothing left but a bloody pile of gore spread in a wide circle.

The young man looked to the sky and screamed as loud as his remaining strength could. It was a scream of pain, the pain of loss. He dropped to the ground amid the blood and bodyparts. It didnt matter now, the blood had stained more than his skin. It would never leave his forever darkened soul.

Waking with a start, Jonas lept from his bedroll grasping his sword in his sure grip. Looking around he could see nobody near so relaxed a little. He walked the short distance back to the graves. and knelt by his wife.

"Forgive me, Ella, i was not there for you and our son." Tears rolled down his face, leaving salty tracks in the days dirt.
"I should have been there to protect you!" He looked to the sky again and screamed. The pain of loss surfacing again as he punched the ground.
"Every day hurts without you, my love. I miss you so much i pray for the day we can be together again."

A howl sounded. It was close. He looked up to see a wolf standing before him. Even in the dark he could see its eyes on him. He stood and stuck his sword in the ground.

"Have you come to test me now? GO AHEAD!" He yelled at the magnificent creature, yet it just stood, watching him. He went to his knees as the beast walked over and sat beside him. As he reached out to touch it, it rose and walked off again into the darkness.

"Ill follow you now, Machias." He spoke to the wolf as he stood and walked after it, leaving his sword buried in the ground, next to his wife.

Walking blindly into the darkness, with no idea on what was to happen, Jonas followed the wolf as it padded through the woodland. They walked for what seem like hours, and as the wolf stopped, Jonas could see the light from a small fire up ahead. Walking slowly towards the firey warmth he could see an outline of a person sitting by it in total silence. Walking closed, making noise so as to not scare the person, he came to stand by the fire.

"Greetings, why do you sit out here? it could be dangerous."

Lifting the hood from their head, the colour drained from jonas's face and his jaw went slack. He fell to his knees and sat staring into the eyes of his wife.

"Ella.......... ive missed you, my love."

"I am not truely here, my love, as you know. I am no longer with the living. I have missed you to my dear, but i have been watching you. As has little Gial. You were so graceful my love. But you fell. Why did you fall so far?"

With tears in his eyes Jonas looked at the image of his wife. She still looked as beautiful as the first day he saw her.

"They took you from me, Ella. without you and Gial i am nothing. I gave up on everything and everyone. Oh how i need you again."

Ella rose from her sitting position and walked to where Jonas sat, lifting her soft hand she placed it on his cheek, wiping the tears away.

"Ahh my love, you do not need us anymore. You have found strength in the Wolf again. You must follow him, he will lead you to what you need. Believe in yourself, my love, you could always do that before"

Stroking his face, she moves he other hand to the other cheek nad kisses his forehead.

"I will always love you. I'll wait for you my love."

"Please dont go yet, Ella. Please stay longer and talk to me."

Jonas stands again and reaches for Ella's hand only to see her dissapear in front of him.

"Ella........... i love you too."

Jonas awoke as the sun rose above the trees, its shining warmth on his face filling him with a sense of calm. Rising from his blanket he reached for his pack. Its was gone. He searched the nearby area. All of his belongings had been taken, including his magical sword. Checking the ground for tracks he noticed some footprints in the mud to his left.

"Damn thieves" he thought to himself, "I'm a bad tracker at the best of times, now ill have to try and follow these".

Picking up his bedroll he sets off in the direction he hopes they took.

"When i find you ill crack your damn skull!" He shouts as he stalks into the woodland.

Again and again he lost the tracks and had to walk back and forth trying to follow them. He could gather there were two or three sets, sometimes spliting off to try and fool him. It was mid-day before he saw the light from their fire. Laying on the floor, he crawled towards them using his basic camoflage skills as best he could. When he was no more than ten metres away he watched them going about their buisness of making camp, pitching up a small tent and a strange cloth hanging between two trees on which one man was laying. An interesting invention he thought to himself, one he may have to take for himself.

He stood and walked silently towards the man between the trees, but as he neared the sleeping man, jonas stood on a stick making a loud crack and waking his victim. The man quickly rose and drew a dagger from a sheath in his boot.

"Who are you?" the man asked him, "what do you want?"

Jonas glared at the thief, "you stole my sword and pack, i want them back." He spoke as he slowly walked towards him.

"Mari, Gonar, we have an uninvited guest." He shouted to his partners. "make sure we give him a warm and bloody welcome".

The man went to rush Jonas, thrusting his blade forward, aiming for his throat. Jonas swung his arm, bouncing the knife off of his studded leather bracer and landing a swift but powerful left hook to his would be killers jaw. The man stumbled back, triping over an exposed tree root and falling onto his rear as jonas charged forward and delivered a brutal kick to his lower regions. The man cried out and curled into a ball on the floor. One down, Jonas thought to himself just as he was hit with a solid strike on the back by another man with a club.

Turning slowly, Jonas looked at the man, towering over him. "You are going to regret doing that, little man." His hand snapped forward as he grabbed the man by his shirt and swung him mightily into a tree causing a loud snapping sound and screams of pain from his hapless foe.

A sharp excruciating pain exploded in his calf. Glancing down he could see a bolt from a crossbow protruding from both sides of his leg.Lifting his head, he could see the shooter was a young woman of great beauty standing before him. She dropped her crossbow and struggled to pick up a sword. His sword.

"Damn it! ive never had to kill a woman, but you are on your way to being the first! Drop my damn sword and tend to your friends! I shall not harm any of you if you return my things."

She looked him in the eye and smiled, "We know better than to trust you Linovel scum!" she screamed at his as she charged towards his, sword raised. As the weapon was too heavy for her, she swung, over balanced and stumbled leaving Jonas with the perfect oppertunity to draw her into his arms and shake her untill dropping his sword. Throwing her aside he limped to his weapon, picked it up from the floor and turned on this pathetic band of thieves.

"Now you feel foolish, i dont doubt. Why did you steal from me?"

The woman, nursing her ancle she twisted while falling turned to him, "You seemed to be nothing more than a savage with a weapon. We were right."

The two men were laying unmoving on the floor. A look of panic appeared on the womans face. "You killed them! You stinking Linovel savage!"

Jonas glared at the woman, not caring that the two men were indeed dead. "Silence, wench! You are nothing more than a petty thief! Your frinds deserved their fate and if you are not careful you shall share it!"

Anger flashed across her face as she reached behind her back. Her hand flashed forward, sending a throwing dagger at Jonas. Sensing that she would have tried something, Jonas jumped to his left, Pain flaring in his pierced led. He ran forward and struck the woman hard in the face knocking her out.

"Stupid cow."

after taking stock of the camp, he dragged the bodies of the two fallen men. The first had fallen on his dagger after being hit, the second had his the tree with the side of his head and cracked his temple. Oh well, jonas thought to himself, they should of known better than to steal from a Linovel.

After removing the two men, he tied to woman to a tree with her arms behind her back, then sat by the fire.
"Its going to be a long night."

Sitting within the fires glowing warmth, Jonas stares at the smouldering embers. For a young warrior he had suffered and lost so much, it was no wonder he had so much anger inside of him. He always fought to control the beast, but it was rare when he could. And now he sat, with an unconcious bandit woman, wondering what to do with her.

"Dammit Machias, you do put me into some strange situations." he muttered to his wolf-god.

To his side the woman started to wake. With a groan she lifted her head and looked around.

"You hit like a girl, but i wouldnt want it repeated." she said

Jonas barked out a loud laugh and turned to face her.

"like a girl eh? then you must have a weak jaw, as you didnt seem to stay awake afterwards. But enough of that, are you hungry? i noticed you had some food with you."

Jonas walked over to her and untied her hands, leaving some food by her side. Sitting once again by the fireside Jonas starts to eat some dried meat while keeping an eye on the woman.

The woman, unsure if she should trust the strange fur-clad warrior looks around to see if it is some kind of trap, but finds nothing that indicates there is. She picks up the food and walks warily to the fire by which Jonas sits.

"You arent the savage kind of Linovel i expected you to be, apart from murdering my friends that is."

Jonas laughs loudly ans shakes his head.

"Woman, do not pretend that you know anything about me, i am as uknown to you as you are to me. Just eat your food before i change my mind about letting you live."

"Maybe i was wrong............. my name is Keira by the way, not woman." she says before eating.

Jonas looks at the woman, the firelight iluminating her face, which until now Jonas hadnt realised was strikingly beautiful, even with the bruise on her jaw.

"I am Jonas, follower of Machias, god of wolves." he says, turning his attention back to the fire.

A loud roar sounds off to his left, at which he springs up and grabs his magical blade. He stands ready, putting himself between the woman and the location of the noise.

"Woma........Keira, pick up a weapon, this is about to get..........interesting."

If it had been anyone other than Jonas they would have died as the beast lept from the undergrowth. But he knew these foes, he had fought them before. Only then he had the rest of the Hunt with him, not this bandit townsperson.

He dived to his left, while swinging right with his sword, sending it downwards in a deadly arc, slicing through skin and bone alike. The beast tumbled to the ground only to rise again, seemingly not even feeling the vicious wound dealt to it by the Wolf Warrior. It leapt at him again, swinging wildly with its claws. Jonas spun on the spot sending his blade flying from his hands to spear the creature through the chest and pinning it to a tree. Taking his dagger from its boot-sheath he sprang on the creature sending blow after blow into its neck and head, near severing it from its shoulders. Grasping his sword by the grip he pulled it from the beast as it crumpled to the floor in a bleeding pile.

Turning, he saw the Keira had picked up her bow and some arrows. He strode towards her as she spun at him and let loose. Jonas flinched as the arrow sailed over his shoulder and into the eye of another beast that was behind him. Stopping he listened for the sound of another victim. He heard nothing. Walking to the bandit woman he spoke.

"Thank you. That beast would surely had ended my life if not for your skill." Taking her hand, he kissed it, only to have her blush and turn away.

Coughing, he turned away and pretended to pack his belongings away into his backpack. "You get some rest, i will stay awake and keep watch."

He felt hands on his shoulders and her voice say "We will both stay awake.....and i know how best to do that."

For so long he had no felt the touch of a woman, it made him shiver. Could she really mean what he thought? He turned to look at her to see a naughty smile on her face. Standing, her took her in his arms and kissed her. He was going to enjoy this night.

Morning came, and with it the loss of a warm body as the bandit woman crawled from Jonas's bedroll and dressed. Taking one last look at him as he slept, she whispers "Not just a savage then.". With that she leaves him to his undoubtedly pleasant dreams. Minuites later Jonas himself woke, realising the woman was no longer there, he rushes to his pack to check if she stole anything. Seeing that nothing is gone he smiles to himself and gets dressed.
He thinks apon his options. It would be some time before the Hunt joined forces again, so he would need work, food and money as right now he had a lack of all three. There seemed to be only one port of call for him. He must return to his previous occupation. The one thing he knew he could do, and do well. Fighting. Sailors Retreat.
For the first time since entering the clearing, he noticed the bandits had had horses and the woman had left him one. That would make the going easier, and he could sell the beast in the city for some starting money.
So towards Sailors Retreat he rode.....

The journey took less than a tenday. Stopping only at night to hunt, sleep and rest the horse he arrived fresh as he could.[br]
Arriving at the large gates he dismounted and led the horse to where two guards were standing.[br]
"Greetings, Linovel," the first said "What is your buisness in the Retreat today?"[br]
"Work and drink" replied Jonas "Heres my passes, they are all up to date."[br]
The guard briefly glances at the paperwork and waves him through without another word.[br]
Heading to the nearest stables, he haggles a price with the owner. He doesnt get much, but its a start.[br]
"So you here for the fighting ring are you?" the stablemaster asks[br]
Jonas looks confused for a second, then replies "Yes, could you direct me? im new here, heard about it from a trader in the mountains." he lied[br]
"Go to the end of the street and take a left, theres a tavern called 'The bloody knuckle'. Thats where its happening. It'll be busy mind, lots of people wanting to fight."[br]
Jonas thanked the man and headed off to the tavern. A fight and money, what more could he want?
