As he and Nyx fold away the last of their tents and take time to make good the earth around the site of their tempery dwelling his thoughts turn to what has transpired in the past few days, the new shakle around his wrist bothers him "what is the soul caravan and what is its perpose" he mumbles to himself, he turns to Nyx who is still busy packing stuff into satchles and bags "I belive we must seek the wisdom of the elders so as to better understand the perpose of these spirits of the caravan and why they seem to choose only a select few of us and those that we have travled with in recent times, maybe they are messengers of the prophet, she does walk a strange path after all. It may also be wise to inform the elders of the ritual you and our kin saw being performed and of the walking corpses that attacked at that figures command", the look that Nyx gives him is one he has seen from her many times, its that look "do we have to" which translated mean she doesnt want to have to explain what has happened and why she has taught an outsider the gift of sight. With the last of the stuff packed into its relivent bags and the ground restored to its proper state he kneels and offers thanks to nature for what they have taken recently and and pushes an apple seed into the earth as an offering to nature as his farther taught him. He stands picking up the larger of the packs and shouldering it as he and Nyx head out into the world of sanctuary once more in search of theprophet and the answers she hold to the questtions that burn within everyone of his kin warrior, shaman and herbalist alike

Nyx merely stood and watched Thanas pack up their belongings a dark look on her face. Damn the timing, why must they leave before things are done? There was too much here for them to depart so suddenly, and she would have liked to speak with Goldar and Jonas to make sure their ritual went well. But needs must and when she is summoned then she must go. She listened to Thanas talking over their problem, it was her fault that he now bore the same shackle as her, if she hadn't tormented the ghost then perhaps he would have left him alone. No, she thought not, the spirit had been determined to shackle either Thanas or Goldar. They were strong warriors and would be so in death as they had been in life, and of course everyone needs warriors. Still Thanas' anger towards her was still justified and a little unsettling. He was always firm with her, keeping her out of trouble, but never angry. Her grandmother would be angry, if she was any better. Nyx had tended to her for a short while but had managed to keep her secret from her in her illness. Her grandmother knew nothing about Goldar having the sight. But Thanas would tell her and Nyx would have to explain herself..as would he, after all he let her do it. Once Thanas had finished she took up her pack, letting him bare most of the burden and walked silently beside him as the left Riggers Den still in the first rays of morning. Words escaped her for the longest time, as she pondered on the questions laid before them. As the sun beat down its heady rays they walked unendlessly, discussing the shackles and making peace with each other, only stopping once night had fallen so that they make their prayers and set up their camp once more. Nyx came to her final descicion "Perhaps we should try and contact Zakk although I doubt he would appreciate me summoning him again, But I fear we left events to early and mishap may have befallen Goldar and his companions in the wake of the nights events." she smiled with a mischeivious glint, knowing Thanas would travel to meet them and leave her in peace for a short while at least. Despite herself she was beggining to like Goldar and Jonas, they were decent men who seemed willing to keep her from harm, a feat more difficult than might first seem. And above all else, her self serving nature came into play. If something had happened with the Ghosts her Kin had stumbled across and been injured by, then Nyx needed, wanted to know every detail, there may be something of use to her, some little trick to increase her knowledge and ultimatly...her power.

although some what grudgingly he agrees with Nyx that they should seek zakk and goldar insearch of news of the past days outcome, was denalar found and rescued or had something gone wrong. It is decided that he will leave all his equipment with Nyx who will make camp for the next few days whilst he seeks Zakk and goldar, he leaves the camp just as the first rays of the new day begin to light the land of sanctuary, He heads straight back towards the settlement of riggers den to see if any of the others remain there and have news of goldar, the journey takes a full day at a well paced run. Thanas arrives in riggers den just as night falls and heads for the shelter of the tavern..........

Denelar's death had shocked all who fought to save him. The Linovel elder's death would be known on the mountain, and war would come to the people of Sailor's retreat.
Night had fallen, and the rites of death had be performed over the spot that Denelar had fallen. The Hunt had set off north, heading for the Linovel mountain, but their journey had not gone unnoticed. The tales were already being told in the Tavern, and, as Thanas entered, the story was being told once more. The Hunt was marching north, the scarred warriors in furs, safe and determined. Thanas was several days behind them.

Nyx sat in darkness, the heady scent of insence lingering aruound her as she sat at her shrine. A small skull sat before her, carved with intricate designs as she prayed to her Prophet for some sign, some indication that she was on the right path. Little came to her, her mind in turmoil over the ivory shackle she wore. How to remove the henious object? She had spent the day practising her new skill with Ruadan, once her kin now a Ghost walking beside them. In the hours of daylight she could now hear his voice, communication now so less frustrating for them both. But now in darkness her thoughs fell to Thanas and his trek to meet with Goldar. The information was important, and she was sure he would be fine, but despite herself she worried about him. Emotion was not something Nyx came by readily, she was often far to callous in her nature. Morality. That was what she had been told was lacking in her. A sense of morality. How was she to find it? In the background she could hear her herbalist companion about her work. Nyx smiled to herself and silently left the tent heading out on her own towards the nearby woods. Perhaps a little summonning to let Goldar know Thanas approached would be in order. And anyway how was she to enrich her power and skill if she did not practise. Drawing herself a small circle of salt from her pouch she began calling across the winds for Zakk, using blood and magic to draw him to her, learning her lesson from last time to ASK him and not command him as she had before. Patiently she waited, her calls carrying in places she could not hear them, beyond barriers she could not see until he came to her. On his appearance she spoke "Thanas means to reach Goldar and The Hunt, please tell your brother of this." once her message was sent she broke the circle and let Zakk leave, as she fell asleep on the woodland floor using more effort than she had wished in calling the ghost.

Nik i have jusr discovered that u went to contact Zakk on your own. What ever possessed you to do this you should know the risks involved . I was in the tents and would have able to assist you. If anything had happened you there would have been hell to pay. You and i both know that our fallen brother is always there with us but in the woods on your he would not have been able to assist u. As for falling asleep on teh woodland floor that was stupid only for i was alerted to the fact by our brother and came to find you. I know our serch for the prophet is long and sometimes seems fruitless but we all need to be alert to the dangers around us.Thanas had gone in search of Goldar only for Ruadan ahd stayed with us things would have been bad for us especially where you have the shackle on you as well. As for how we are going to get rid of the shackles that are on you and Thanas that is something we have work on TOGETHER.Yes i am giving out to even though you are a descendant form an elder but in reality i am older than you and have seen more of the world and what lies within it. Mortality is something that you might have been pondering in the afterlife. When and if Thanas discovers what has happen i will be there for you but it will not be easy to calm him down as well you know

Nyx woke from the floor at her companions voice, startling her to conciousness. She sat, legs outstretched, resting back on her arms listening to the tirade of words falling on her ears. Once Balloria ahd finished Nyx rolled her eyes and laughed "You worry too much my friend. I need no help, and look see, I am fine. No harm has befallen me. It was a careless mistake I conceded to fall asleep her, and I will not do so again. But Thanas needn't hear of it, he will only worry unduly and fuss. I for one cannot abide his chastisment." She stood and began walking back to their camp words still flowing from her lips as she controlled the anger bubbling beneath the surface "I'm not a child as much as you all would like me to be...heavens forbide I ever move or breath on my own!" The sudden protectiveness was annoying Nyx, Connor, Goldar and Thanas had all told her not to do this that or the other, although the concern for her safety had done lots to boost her ego, which many would say was a bad thing. They must want her safe for a reason, she was useful to them all, and so they must be useful to her.

Nyx the onlt reason that i gave out to you was out of concern. I know you are not a child but sometimes you need to think about what you are going to do. I will not be telling Thanas about what has happened as you know full well he has ways of finding out things that we don't want him to know. As you have know him longer than Ruadan or i. I know the situation that we are in is difficult and that we come form different clans but at this time we are as 1. We can ask Ruadan not to tell Thanas of what has gone on but u know as well as i do that the men of our clans are protective of the females. When i was still with my clan i still remember what 1 of our Elders used to say that we are all our own person butin times of need and danger we become 1.I know that saying seems odd but when you think about it rings true. As in the past i have told you i will help you as much as i can but some things in life you will have to figure out on your own as will Thanas have to relise that you need to find things out on your own as well.I might seem quiet but i do take notice of things that are going on around me. As the men have been brought up to be warriors and the women the healers and thinkers of our race we have to give the men a bit of honour that they are doing they job that they were born for.Nyk you will have to think about some your actions in the future as i do not want to see you loose your life the way my sister did. I am accepting the face that she is gone from this world but i know that i will see her in that spirit world. i do not want that to happen to you. As you know things in this world are not as they should be. We have people who protray themselves as friends but please be careful. I will try and help you as much as i can. the Elders taught me that patience is a good thing looking back i thought they had lost it but now i realise what they were saying. Once we find the porphet them hopefully things will be clearer to us all. Do not think that i enjoy telling you the way you should act but it is your own safety, which i think about the whole time.

Listening intently to the tales in the tavern thanas sorts the truth from poetic licence, with the story of denalars death and the accounts of walking corpses fresh in his mind he sets out north knowing he will have to push hard through the night aswell as day to gain ground on the hunt, trees and shadows rush past as he navigates the darkened woods his senses feeling for spirits. This is his time the time he feels most at ease with the world and his surroundings, he pushs on through the night keeping a good pace even though he knows he will regret it in the days to come, as the first rays of light push through the trees he stops of food and a short cat nap before hoisting his axe and making north again this time watching for tracks left by those he seeks, the soft ground makes following those of the hunt easy well one of them atleast, jonas's heavy boot prints still look fresh as he follows the trail even if they are a little lighter now he has lost that cumbersome metal armour. Thanas pushes on hoping to make time and catch them up soon so he may head back and make sure the dear Nyx is not thinking too hard of ways to wriggle out of having to see the ghost walker elders...................

Far from the watchful eyes of the Ghostwalkers, on a blasted plain in the lands of the dead, a vast shape lumbered, drawn by the wailing souls of the shackled dead. On a steed of thought and fire, it’s eyes steady and without the living fear of real horses, sat a black-garbed figure, his shoulders steady and his poise unmatched by those skulking slaves surrounding the mountainous caravan. The figure turned to look out across the Underworld landscape, eyes scanning the bleached fields and grey skies, all devoid of the joy of life itself. Shifting its cloak, the figure drew the scarves away from it’s face, revealing a beautiful visage, white as alabaster and just as smooth with piercing eyes and full lips. Yet at the neck a slim red line betrayed the murder of the figure; his throat evidently an open wound in the lands of the dead. With calculating eyes, he watched a shadow slither toward him, darting like a birds yet with nothing in the overcast skies to cast it. As it neared, the shadow drew itself up, revealing a weak ghost of little worth, clad in the slaves garb it had died with. Bowing with the necessary obsequience, it offered a handful of white gems, of the same casting as the Ivory Shackles, to it’s mounted master, hissing sibilantly with promises of more, before drifting away once again. “Good spirit; for this I will ensure offerings are made in your name.” The figure intoned as the ghost left him. “With so many shackled, our own powers grow. Those breathing fools lend so little thought to those of us dead that we could glibly stroll up to one and steal the nose from their face. Our lords will be most pleased.” As if in response, the nightmare steed snorted, showing for one brief moment a leering human face set in torment. Leaning forward, the rider patted the beasts neck and turned him back toward the caravan, smiling to himself once more. “Settle down, Imitrex; you must prefer your new form? It is much more suited to serve me better than your last.” As the grey day continued along with the travels of the caravan, the figure rode back with his newfound gems…

Ignoring the tirade of words, Nyx storms to her sleeping compartment, grabbing up her tiny skull from her shrine as she goes. Tying the door behnd her she slumps down on the bed, just avoiding the patter of rain that has begun its fall from the sudden cloudy sky. Lighting a nearby lantern with a lucifer she smiles to herself in the orange glow of candle light. Her thoughts wander to the events just passed and how angry she had made the infernal ghost of the caravan. "Good" She whispers to herself her voice barely to be heard. "If it wants us so badly it will have to fight. I will not go easily into his caravan, If he wants a pet he will get a vicious one in me" Nyx tries in vane once more to remove the shackle from her wrist, her fingers passing through the intricate band. In a sudden bid of desperation and fury she utters out the spell chant "Burn sear and devour all in a burning FLARE!" placing her hand where the band she can see the band on her arm. It has no effect on the shackle, but serves to burn her arm nicley as she cries out in pain. Tears flow down her cheeks leaving their salty traces on her skin, tears of frustration and pain. Nyx lays on her bed, cradelling the skull in her arms like a doll, in blissful ignorance of the ominous presence moving through the underworld.

Some distance away, in a recently constructed wooden lodge several students from the Colledge were busy practising their art. Having taken the decision to move himself far away from the main college in order to lean to control his powers in safety, Calysto Calystese sat in quiet meditation. He was kneeling in a shallow trough of water from which steam wafted gentally. A haze of heat surrounded his red cloaked form. On the other side of the room, Rand Tandil puffed on his pipe and pulled the heavy blanket more tightly around him. "Do you mind giving it a rest Calysto?" He said, "You're sort of sucking up all the heat in the cabin." Upon hearing his friend's voice, the young Red Mage opened his eyes and at once the haze disapated as the heat spread out to fill the whole room. The bubbling water gradually calmed. "Sorry Rand. I almost had it that time." Calysto rose from the water and wandered to a table to pour some wine. "You understand how important this is yes? I must find a more efficient way to draw power. One that doesn't leave such a scar as tearing the energy from the earth, but that is faster than simply refocusing my existing power. I think I'm on a winner here. If all mana is born of elemental forces, then in theory tapping into those forces might produce a way to regenerate mana quickly. It is certainly less destructive than my current method." "Especially with your freaky Mana." "Yes" Replied Calysto, "Especially with that. You know I'm somewhat regretting doing that, I'm sure master Garris doesn't approve. If only that idiot mage and his blasted apprentice hadn't showed up to the initiation then none of this would have happened." "The one with the face?" "Yes that one. Alright, test me." Sighing, Rand nodded and placed his pipe on the table before reaching for a wooden lever. "You shouldn't worry about stuff like that Calysto." He said, "Let's just go back to the college, there's supposed to be a mad frat party on next week in Green Dorm." "Pah!" Scoffed Calysto. "I'm sure you'd love to just go and smoke cherry weed with those Green Mages all day. YOU have the highest grade average in the year. It's me who's in danger of flunking out. I'm telling you now Rand, if I don't make it into the main college this year then I'm giving up. I'll go get a job as a tailor or a PI or something." Rand gave the lever a tug and the room was engulfed in a great rumbleing sound. Suddenly a huge log swung from the roof towards Calysto. "Come rock come earth, encase me in protective STONE!" He yelled and at once Slabs of granite burst from the floorboards and encased his body. The log slammed into the rocky form and split in two. Calysto let the rocks fall away and looked back to Rand. "Perhaps you should concentrate on reading your scrolls?" Rand offered. "I just can't get my head around them! Magic I understand, how to call it, how to channel it, how to store it. But all those books of lore...I mean there are twenty books just on the topic of the principle spells! I can't understand why someone would write so much about something so simple and why they would encode that information on those damned scrolls! Second lever." Rand pulled a different lever and a hail of darts exploded from an alcover. As they closed in on Calysto, the mage raised his hands and once again all the heat was sucked from the room. There was a blazing flash around him and the darks burned to nothingness. "Your sheilds are getting better." Rand noted. "If only the supposedly simple stuff came so easily. Can we go over how to read a scroll again? I think..." "What is it?" Rand asked. "Didn't you feel that?" Said Calysto, "A small jolt in the magical field of the camp. Someone just cast a spell...a weak one." "It was you, you burk!" Calysto threw up his arms. "No, I mean OUTSIDE this room." Jaffa and Magistrate Rianna are still asleep aren't they?" "So far as I know." Shrugged Rand. "I wasn't aware there were any other sanctioned mages here." Calysto wandered back to his trough and knelt again. "It's probably nothing, but I'm going to do a scan of the area, just to be sure." Rand shrugged again and reached for his blanket as the air around him grew cold once more.

The tempestuous mind of Nyx ticks slowly through all of her possible options. They are limited to say the least. The ghostwalker camp was only a slow days travel from Riggers Den after leaving so hastily, and now she lay with only her herbalist companion bustling around the temporary camp. Thanas had left her unprotected, for she had no idea where her ghostly kin was hiding. He had mentioned something of Ja Juka and although Ruadan may be dead, he still had questions to answer and skills to conquer, Ja Juka may hold some of the answers to his queries. If he was lucky. So, Options? Once Thanas had returned they were to travel to see their Elders, a meeting Nyx was not looking forward to. Only one Elder caused her worry. Her Grandmother Eliene. The only person who could completely scold and control Nyx's feirce temper. Surely she would be angry with her over Goldar, a piece of information she had so far managed to hide. As for the shackle. The fact that Nyx had even allowed herself to be shackled would be cause for concern. And to let happen to Thanas as well? She would surely bare the blame. But perhaps, her grandmother would hold some titbit of imformation, some any knowledge of the curious caravan and its tyrannical sprirts. Other than that her options were limitied. Fearful of being caught by the close eyes of the colleges, and having no respect for any of the mages she had so far encountered, Nyx did not think that asking them for help would be of much use, or wisdom. For now all they could do was wait, as the souls of the caravan continued on their path and the shackle weighed heavy on her wrist and mind, sleep tugging on the veils of her conciousness.

Running through night and day, barely stopping for rest, Thanas makes good time catching the group he follows. The path left by Jonas and Goldar was once easy to follow, but soon Thanas comes across the wreckage of a flood. He has little knowledge of what has passed here, but knows somehow that the Hunt fell fowl of the flood, their tracks stopping so suddenly, consumed in the path of the raging river. He searched along the path of destruction, investigating the area for any signs of the Linovel's survival. After what felt like an age, he saw them, the signs of a battle, and the stinking corpse of what looked like some mythical beast. Could it really be a dragon? Surely these things only exsisted in the stories told to children at bedtime. But judging by the remains he saw..obviously that was not true. He carefully scoured the area, counting the different foot prints, trying to decifer how many of the men survived the tirade. He was not far from them now. Their fight with the beast had gained him valuable time, he should reach them soon, very soon. After satisfying himself that they were all together and alive, he once more took up the trail, following them at a quickened pace, his long stride attacking the earth moving him rapidly towards those he seeks. He has no time for rest, he must travel on. His thoughts turn to his impetuous charge and her safety alone without him, spurring him further to complete his mission and return to his kin before they come to harm, or before Nyx gets herself into trouble. Night fell and still he travelled onwards, still unaware of the travels of the caravan in the underworld, the ivory shackle weighing heavy on his mind and wrist. Day broke too quickly it felt, and after stopping for food for as little time as he could, he travelled onwards, following the tracks and signs of The Hunts path, until the sun began to set low in the sky and in the distance he could make out the indistinct shapes of people..a small group not far ahead.

The night had crept onwards as Nyx slept, her dreams haunted by the growing sense of danger the caravan's ghost had left lingering in her senses. Waking with a start, her eyes quickly adjusting to the lowlight she listened carefully for signs of stirring within the other sleeping compartment. It was quiet, perfect. Gathering the objects from her small shrine quickly into her bag, and some small important objects not to be left around and sneaked quietly out of the door. Baloria sat in her chair dozing quietly, it appeared as though she had been working on her herbs and fallen asleep. Oh well just made things easier for Nyx. As she gathered some rations and water, she got careless and knocked a bottle over, sending it clattering into the cook stuff with a cacophany of noise. "Ssssshhhhhhh!!!!" she whispered to the inanimate objects, like a drunk sneaking home too late, and chuckled to herself at the silliness of it. Baloria slept on. Thankfully. Now had she got everything? Nyx checked through her bag, everything she needed at least. Opening the door to the tent a blast of fresh night air filled her lungs, and without word or note to tell anyone where she was going Nyx strode out into the night, quickly dissapearing into the woodland and enrapturing darkness beyond. If they were stupid enough to leave her alone, Nyx was arrogant and probably stupid enough to take advantage of it.

*So. Where to go now* Nyx pondered to herself, walking quietly through the woodland undergrowth. The night was cold and peaceful, the odd sound of owl or forraging creature settling softly onto the cool breeze. Nyx smiled listening to the sounds of the wildlife around her, creatures she often felt so close to and jealous of. They had no boundaries or restrictions layed upon them as she had. No rules and orders to adhere to. Ahh what blissful an exsistence it must be. Morally corrupt. those were the words the elders had used to describe her. Morally corrupt. Lost on the path to the Prophet, with little hope of saving. Could she really be that far on the path to darkness? Did she even care any more? She paused on her path, the sudden thought hitting her hard in the pit of her stomach..Did she care? In someway she must, otherwise she wouldn't put up with the constant chastisment of Thanas and the others. Or was that just because she would do anything for him, if she really had to, that she obeyed. Nyx sighed and walked on, not entirley sure where she was heading or why, but she made good time and walked a swift pace through the velvet night. The Elders wanted to see her, but Nyx had neither the desire nor the inclination to see them. And besides Thanas had left her alone without protection. If anything were to happen to her...on his head be it.

How dare they say such things to me! I was closer on the path to the prophet than any of them will ever be! Just because I refuse to lie down and die like the rest of them, I fight for myself...how does that make me morally corrupt? Although there was that time with the bandits......." She carried on walking Her voice loud and brash in the still of the night,.. yet some how her internal sense of direction was unwittingly sending her towards her Elders. Or perhaps it was her subconcious fighting to break through with some sense of moral compass? She really should speak to the Elders and tell them what had occurred, how war was about to appear in the land once more and how they might just get caught up in it again. "Uuuuugggghhhhh!" she screamed out into the stillness "I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!! *Thanas will go with you, He will make you see the error of your ways, he will be your conscience, blah blah blah we will strip your skills from you..no spells no mana..just you...Jealous. The lot of them*" She spoke in that whiny voice children use to copy their parents before breaking into her natural rauchous tone once more... "And now I'm heading back into the jaws of my grandmother just so he doesn't get killed..or let war start I suppose...with this stupid Ivory shackle and no protection!!!!" With a final scream of anger and frustration, she marched on forwards, her temper fueling her way..closer to the Elders and possibly...into the maws of trouble again.

Nyx walked solidly for the rest of teh night, her rambling tirade of words shattering the peaceful silence and tranquility that should be bestowed upon the suns setting. Not that what should be ever bothered her. If she followed what should be, she would never have entered Sailor's Retreat so boldy. She would never have even spoken to those who approached her or given Goldar the gift of sight. If she followed what should be Nyx would not be Nyx, and to her, that would be a terrible thing. To understand why someone who was once considered a prodigy among her people could turn so drastically from her path, is a difficult concept even for those of her kin. But turn from it she has, and in her darkest hour the only one who understood even a glimmer of how she felt, was Thanas. He was, and is, her biggest weakness, finding herself with emotions she cannot fully understand or deal with, fueling her anger towards him aswell as her adoration. As the sun kissed the dew covered ground with its first breaking rays of light Nyx looked up and smiled, the light a welcome break to her thoughts. She trudged onwards, tirelessly, determined now to prove that she was not as incapable as they had thought...all of them. SO they took what was rightfully hers from her..now she could show them how much she had learned. With sudden determination she headed straight to where she knew her grandmother rested, ready to face at least a few of her demons...if only to further her own ends.
