Hi John, I'm a paperhanger in Danville Pa. I am hanging a fabric on sheetrock walls. this is a fairly heavy fabric with a sprayed on teflon backing. Trimming the edges is required. I am haveing a problem with the seams fraying as this is a woven checkerboard pattern with squares about 1/4". I have tried wetting with water and pressing down, a partial fix. Same thing with starch but leaves a shine so that needed to be washes off. Have you got any ideas on how to lay these frayed edges down. Seam rolling didn't work.I have to be careful as I don't want to stain the fabric. The fabric is scotchguarded. Thanks Jeff Hildebrand 570-275-1406 |

Hanging Fabric tricky. I just finished a job hanging velvet. It was not scotch gaurded. I knifed the seams on the table with a straight edge and new blade every cut. I applyed the paste to the wall and than hung the strip dry. They were 54" wide. I found that pulling on any frayed edges is the worst thing to do. So I snippid any off with my shears. Tapping the seams with a smoothing brush works nice. I dont know if this helps or not. I hope it does. Good Luck ! John http://www.paperhangit.com Give your home the warmth and beauty you desire ! |

Try Fray-Check. You can buy it at a fabric or craft store. It stops/prevents fraying and doesn't show when dry. Hope this works on your wall. |
