Liverpool Quiz LeagueAnnual Pairs CompetitionThe fourth annual pairs competition will be held at Christ the King Club (venue subject to confirmation) on Monday 19th March 2007.The idea is to have a social evening of quizzing to end the season. Players enter as individuals and the pairs are drawn together on the night from all the participants. This means that almost everybody plays alongside somebody that they usually play against. Please be there for 7.30 so that we can register you and make the draw for your partner in time for an 8 p.m. start. As usual there will be prizes for the first three pairs and a table quiz to keep everybody occupied during throughout the evening. In accordance with tradition, this year’s questions are being set by last year’s winners, Lesley Scholes (Kluggers) and Graham Barker (Rainhill Victoria). We welcome players of any standard and from all divisions. Last year the runners up included a third division player. There will be a small entry fee to cover the cost of prizes, etc. Last year it was £3 per head. One very important position that we need is a floating partner. If an odd number of players is present, we need to have an additional player to even up the numbers. If you would like to come along, but do not mind whether you play or not, could you please contact me and let me know.I very much look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, particularly those who have not taken part before. Finally, to assist with catering can you please email me and let me know if you intend playing - mark@elliskerr.co.ukMany thanksMark KerrDivision 1 Secretary0151 426 4205 077755 02473

Thanks to everybody who attended, we had a good turn out of 34 quizzers, so 17 pairs competed. The previous year's winners, Graham Barker (Rainhill Victoria) and Lesley Scholes (Kluggers) set a high standard of questions, both searching and interesting and the winners were an all second division pairing of Tony Gannon (Saints) and Frank McHugh (Tramway) who saw off two all first division pairs of Arthur Heyes (Wheatsheaf) and Mark kerr (Rainhill Victoria) and Phillip Gray (Rainhill Victoria) and Robert Zatz (Kluggers). They won the final convincingly, answering not a question correctly. Thanks also to David Cotson (CTK) for arranging the venue, Frank McFarlane for providing the buffet and League Chairman Jack Bennett for MCing the event with his usual bonhommie.A good time was had by all.
