Hi, Im proud to be a hedge witch and want to share my beliefs with friends and family, but whenever I say something or tell someone that I am a witch they shrivel up and are either scared or find it absouloutely hilarious. Like today me my mum and her partner were in the car and I was reading this book about witchcraft and my mums partner asked what I was reading so I told them and they laughed and it really hurt! Does anyone else know what Im talking about?Blessed Be! x

Hello, people are NOT affraid of us, what they are affraid of, is the UNKNOWN! You see it's like bing in the ocean on a beautiful sunny hot day. Everyone is splashing around having great fun and then someone screams "Barracuda". Everybody says "Huh? What?" If that person had yelled "Shark!" there would have been a panic. It's the same thing with us. You say you are a Wiccan very few know what that is. You say you are a witch and they run for it.sometimes we are ridiculed or laughed at because people fear what they do not know or understand. If you took the time to explain to your mum in detail, everything that you believe in and what it means for you and every one else around you, your mum would soon see that you are being serious. Some people simply do not believe in the powers of elemental magic and so they just laugh it off. It is only when it is fully explained to them, that they start to take things more seriously.BBRobin

yeah, totally. When i first became wiccan i got all this information and gave it to my parents and some of my best friends so they wouldn't think it was wierd, and they completely accept it now. Just explain it to them (my parents were worried i was some devil worshiper or something lol) and if they're still wierd about it shouting at them helps :) xXx

Hi Jane:I have been 'different' all my life, being aware of natural energies and such. I don't view being a hedge witch as a religion, it's just something I am, and my daughters are the same. I used to be a bit shy about it and afraid of being thought a freak, but now I'm knocking on a bit I'm happy with what I am. If people can't deal with it that's their problem, not mine. I help people whenever I can and don't judge them, but I agree that there are those who find witches scary. Actually I've been told by people that they found me scary even before they knew I was a hedgewitch. I suspect it has something to do with being 'in touch' with natural forces, in some way it communicates itself to people. I really wouldn't worry about it if I were you, just be happy with who you are, and if you need moral support you can always email me. I should warn you though, I don't go in for all this ritual stuff - I'm more your Terry Pratchett sort of witch with a sense of humour!

most never understand even if you exsplane it to them a hundred times. my mother still doesn't understand what i do she doesn't care either but thats besides the point. i think that others are just afrade of what one could do thier afrade that it could cause an unbalance of sorts. if others can't exsept you for who you are then they are not very good friends.Blessed be - Adisla
