I have never spent so much time on the internet !Alison is in the process of finalising the bank account, which should be arranged by the end of the week. We all have to have titles, so I am Chairman, Alison is Secretary and Phil is Treasurer with any two of us being signatories. Many of you offered me money the other day, please sit on it until the bank account is up and running. The name of the account is ' Highbrook Tsunami Fund '.Can you all please think about how much money you can spare and if you can extract money from the various companies you work for or other friends. Our friends in Thorpeness have offered to help in any way, and my sister hopefully will do some fund raising in Melbourne, every penny from anywhere will help.I could do with some help with the fundraising, any offers ? I am getting a lot of help from contacts in Sri-Lanka. This is a copy of the e-mail I have just sent to Harindra Demel :- Dear Mr Demel My name is Peter Browne, and I am arriving in Colombo at 0800 on the 12th February, flight number QR 300Sujan phoned me to tell me that you are willing to meet me and help me get down to Hambantota. You are extremely kind and I am very grateful for any help you can give me.I live in a small village called Highbrook in Sussex, England. The village has a population of 100 people and we would like to adopt a small fishing village of 100 - 200 people who have lost everything in the Tsunami. I am sure we can help buy new boats, nets etc so they can get back to earning their own living hopefully better than before. The purpose of my trip is to find that village and set up a link with them. Before I arrive it would be useful to know how much a boat costs, where we can get the boats built and how to get the money to the village so that every rupee counts. Also what else these people want in the medium to long term.At present I have no idea how much money we can raise but be assured we will do everything possible to help.A trustworthy contact in or near Hambantota would be very useful.I am planning on returning to England on the 19th leaving at 20.30 which does not give me a lot of time, but if I have to, I will extend my stay.Sujan mentioned that you could arrange a meeting with the Prime Minister, this would be very useful. My Sister who lives in Melbourne, Australia, has a friend in Colombo who is sister of the Archbishop of Colombo so if I have time I might be able to meet him. Very many thanks for your kind offer of help Peter Browne
