Front page of the Mail on Sunday today. This is how we will be charged in the "pay as you throw" schemes our government and local authorities are pressing for: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=402439&in_page_id=1770&ico=Homepage&icl=TabModule&icc=NEWS&ct=5 |

You have to laugh at the headline. It couldn't be any more Daily Mail could it? Whilst I'm not convinced that our government and/or local authorities are necessarily pressing for this (again, Doretta a source for these claims would be nice) a couple of think tanks reckon it's the way forward. Personally I don't have a problem with either having a chip in my bin or being charged for the waste that I produce. Does anyone? http://www.ippr.org.uk/pressreleases/?id=2283 IPPR and Green Alliance back charging for waste |

Will be interesting to see what happens on this one. Anyone who removes the chip from the bin could be liable to prosecution as it is willful damage to insured property. Wheelied bins belong to the Councils for the collection crews benefit. I am not surprised Doretta linked to this article - especially as it came from the source of all reliable information. I am surprised to see that Doretta hasn't linked to the keep Britain tidy rat photocall and twisted it to her own needs! |

The Government has admitted that, in the recent Defra consultation, there were coded questions to consultees (of which I was one) regarding charging separately from council tax for residual waste collection. I have no need to twist reports to validate the concerns of our Campaign. The biggest twist happens to be the assurances of councils to residents that fortnightly collection schemes are working perfectly well in other boroughs! Interesting to see that the "think tank" referred to in this letsrecycle.com article were working with out of date figures! http://www.letsrecycle.com/legislation/news.jsp?story=5979 |

I'd quite like a chip in my bin if it meant I always got the same one. Unfortunatly putting the same bin back in the same place seems beyond my council |

Not really a fair and impartial forum if the moderator keeps removing comments that she does not agree with by saying they are offensive! As for being given the chance to respond to a DEFRA consultation - L U C K Y Y O U - it was you and the other 80,000 people who contributed to the consultation - your not that special! |
