We did it one semester at a friend's house, the next year at home by ourselves, and last year and this with a co-op. For your 5 yo, I would suggest doing one day of *introducing* all the material throughout the day (short lessons for each topic), and then making one day "History Day," another "Science," another Fine Arts," etc., with doing little portions of the memory facts throughout the day. I would choose a few interesting books from the library to read-aloud, along with some of the material from the CC curriculum. (See what your child found interesting from a certain part of the memory work and go from there.) Kids, especially at that age, learn through songs, actions, hands-on activities and repeating. =) I have the CD going in the car and in the house during playtimes, etc. Don't feel like you have to cover EVERY topic in depth. Again, see what your child finds interesting and focus in on that topic. My son is 5 this year, and I was amazed at how much he learned last year as a 4 yo. We were in a co-op and he has a 9 yo sister, so that helped. Things he did well at were the history songs (music) and science facts (motions & chants & songs). He liked the fine art portions, but didn’t quite understand how to do the tin whistle (LOL!). He didn’t know the Veritas timeline by heart, but by the end knew most of it (with some prompts) by each picture. The science activities are very fun this year and fit well with that age.You may want to go over to the Connected Community area on the main CC site to check out the forums, etc in that area. http://classicalconversations.com/registered/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=96
