I have been a huge fan of yours for a long time. My husband (Common Law) left me 2 weeks before Christmas last year after over 18 years together because of ongoing problems with my health (since I was 12) and our daughter Carly's health problems. I was told I could never have children. The Orthopedic Department of B.C. Children's Hospital kicked Carly out last August and off the surgery list for Scoliosis all because my husband and I had been advocating for her with the Government(who promised that: "If wait times for a specific surgery or procedure become unreasonable, B.C.'s Health System would need to shift resources to meet patients' needs".), the media and my petition sites. This is for all the kids not just Carly. Some children are showing up on their scheduled surgery date only to be told there are not enough ICU Nurses and they will have to be rescheduled for another time. This is for all surgeries not just Scoliosis and some kids are on their second try at surgery. Fifty surgeries were cancelled at BCCH between April and July 2008 and no one will say how many now.My ex and I were going to get married, but when we found out I was pregnant with Carly, we decided to ask our parents to give us money for a down payment on an apartment instead of a wedding. Your song "I Believe" was going to be our wedding song. My ex now doesn't want to give me any money, wants our apartment sold and now I have found out my kidneys are working at 50% at best. I need a biopsy to see if it is even worse. This has been caused because of all the surgeries and malnutrition I have endured because of Crohn's Disease which I first started showing signs of when I was 12. I'm 44 now.I wanted to ask if you could help my daughter and I in any way and bring attention to the problems at BCCH due to the lack of funding by our Government for health care. No one is looking after Carly's spine right now and it is at a 90 degree curve as of February this year when I took her to Edmonton's Stollery Hospital to get X-rays done as BCCH will have nothing to do with her unless it is an emergency situation.
