I totally agree. That way when people hear of the "FQA," they are confused, and so you would have to say "you know, the one in Florida" or "you know, the one formerly known as the PQA" and everyone knows how much fun saying that over and over again would be!!! (btw, I'm kidding)

I think when someone sweeps first, second, third, and fourth in a tourney-i can only think of one word- tion

in response to the other ''pqa quizzer''-what else does a program have to do-there are no other good teams in the pqa-if u can think of one please tell me cause they didnt go home with a trophy

faith has without a doubt the best teams in pqa, i know. there are several other good teams in pqa. it's stupid to say that there are no other good teams in the league. pleasant view has some great teams and quizzers, calvary has great quizzers, (not really great teams), just not as good as faith. faith quizzers can beat anyone up in pqa, which is obviously why they placed 6 out of 10 in the top ten. they memorize their passages, which is extremely smart. other pqa teams should have learned from their example by now. just because a church is good at quizzing doesn't mean they should name their league after them.
david poston posted 2/9/06 4:06 PM
Yeah the naming the league after them was rally just to be funny, but I think when people say there are no really good teams in the PQA besides Faith, they are talking about good national teams. If they are talking about good national teams, then they're right. Faith is the only one right now. Pleasant View used to be, but I don't see it this year.

faith has the only good national senior high team, but calvary has an awesome junior high team. first place at michigan, fourth at athens. at athens, their best junior high quizzer (tyler ziemer)and second best went to senior high team, but with tyler and the second best on their team, they're an excellent team. wait till they get to senior high and faith will have much more competition at national quizzes from teams of their own league.

It won't let me say: d o m i n a t i o n! The only reason calvary, sc might have a good Jr. high team, is because they put ninth graders on their "jr. high" team. if other programs quizzed freshman on their jv teams, it would change a lot of things.
quiiiizer posted 2/9/06 11:47 PM
i think calvary, sc's freshman quizzers are scared to quiz in senior high- i guess they didn't do so well at athens- but look at open door- they have a third grader doing very well in senior high- you don't see her cowering in the jv bracket

i'm a freshman at calvary and i quiz on tournament teams for senior high and junior high. i would much rather quiz on senior high teams at every tournament and that's the same way the other freshmen feel. we don't have any say in what team we quiz on for tournaments. so you can stop thinking that freshmen "cower" in the junior high. we would much rather quiz senior high.

Couple things. As far as dominating goes, the PQA hasn't been nearly as dominated by Faith as the FQA has been by FBCCF for the past couple of years. Second, it may not quite be true this year, but if you look on down the line, usually the 2nd, 3rd, 4th strongest ministries are better in the PQA than in the FQA. And even if you say Calvary FL and Open Door are better than Calvary SC and PVSC, I can still name you a couple more PQA teams that are at least middle of the pack (Greenville, Athens) at national tournaments, but I can't even name another FQA team. Third, Dave, I think our team was like 6-4 during the regular season and 8th or 10th in the PQA tournament when we won nationals with a bunch of Faith teams (among others) beating us - but I think that was mainly because we weren't very good a 2-team quizzing and PQA wasn't our highest priority. Ok, all that to say, you have to give a lot of credit to Faith for having 6 teams in the top 10 (it's impressive by itself to just have 6 teams), but I think the requirement for having the quiz league named after you is having 6 in the top 6. As soon as they do that, I'm all for the name change.

i totally agree with Brant!

couple thingsBrant,I was merely referring to this year. Back when we quizzed, Athens was a player. Pleasant View was a player. Hampton Park occasionally was a player. temple occasionally was a player. One of those teams always found the top three. This year, the FQA is very deep and is definitely the best association in the nation as far as I'm concerned.Princess, of course you would agree with Brant!

What is that suppose to mean? I've never even met brant!
