Healthcare in Ohio--A lifesaver wholistically by Erica Hidvegi
Meridia South Pointe Hospital is a local great hospital here in Cleveland. Patients served by the finest staff for emergency situations is right up the street from me, and I was very lucky.
It is situated on Warrensville Road and serves as a teaching hospital (now affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic system) providing integration of treatment options using both traditional and alternative methods. A true 'wholistic care' experience.
I use the 'w' because there is still some caution in stating their methods of treatment were holistic and alternative, but nevertheless over and above the conventional call of duty.
I knew I was in good hands when the two EMT's arrived at the top of my stairs, gently and calmly telling me everything was going to be alright as I felt my knees buckle up from the excruciating pain and violent tremors my body was experiencing as the ovarian cyst finally ruptured and sent waves of toxins throughout my pelvic region. This one muscular and strong guy and another sinewy strong guy, scooped me up before I hit the floor and shuffled me slowly to an awaiting stretcher.
I arrive at the hospital in record time to receive a barrage of important questions concerning, pain level, symptoms, current medications (herbal or synthetic)--- and make sure you tell them everything, including alcohol, stimulants, narcotics and street drugs, this is your life they are trying to save. All information helps the process go that much easier. I was asked if I wanted a morphine drip for the pain level. I had stated the threshold was nearing 100, I only had a choive between 0-10 to choose from and it was a 20 for sure so I said ten plus laughing but crying at the same time.
I maintained humor through (gritting and chattering teeth) revealing complete medical history with a no-holds barred demeanor and the series of tests performed for the next nine hours before being put in a room for overnite observatory purposes.
I meditated on that table enduring the catheterization, the Catscan, the ultrasound, the two pelvic exams, two rectal exams, poking, prodding, stabbing and the rush of 'morphine and contrast dye for the cat scan' which sent me to a 'happy place'.
The rupture had hemorrhagic material, tissue and toxins dangerous to the system; BUT if your immune system is working properly (and mine was because my leukocyte count was 16,000) then they are not going to push invasive surgery when self-healing had that greater chance of 75%. My body was/is working with me. My blood pressure was steady and normal for me the entire ordeal (admit to discharge), my tolerance for pain was tested over and over again throughout the 55 hours I was hospitalized.
Most of the toxins are gone, the hormone imbalance still has a long way to become 'right' again, but natural menses and herbal strengtheners for the ovaries and uterus will succeed in keeping my otherwise cystic environment free of one that is so large and debilitating. There is some remaining excess tissue but as soon as my next cycle comes the disappearance of this cyst will be a real reward for naturally beating the odds !
As I continue to meditate and venture into my body now that I have been released and sent home, I see progress already taking place and repair of what needs attention, manifest.
Meridia South Pointe Hospital and its staff, specifically seventh floor 23 hour observation unit where Pamela, Gina, Kathy, Cheryl, Lena and finally a male LPN who really shined over and above the call of duty, Mr. John Harver.
They saved saved my life and my own persistence in gaining as much knowledge about this mass, self-educating, examining, healing and maintaining my sanity through insanity and pain, saved my soul. The peace of mind I now have in the healthcare industry is the staff at Meridia South Pointe Hospital, transpersonalism , the support of my family and few cherished friends that are grateful I made it through... !
I rate this place an A+ !
