Quote from Tristans website++++ I could still see the cars ahead, and I saw Mark Harrison pass Phil Moore to take 2nd. But they were specks in the distance, not something to worry about. Behind me the cars were also becoming specks, and were nothing to worry about. Another lonely race loomed. A few laps later I thought to myself 'Is Phil's car bigger?'... Two more laps later and it was certain - I was catching Phil Moore in his Dallara F301 Toyota!! Steadily, lap by lap, I got a bit closer, until I was right with him... Into Riches for the somethingth time, backmarker was getting in the way a bit. He went to take it on the inside through Riches, and I thought it might be worth staying wide and getting a better exit. But I wasn't expecting the lappee to brake so early and hard. Swerving to avoid him, I was then confronted with a Dallara F301 braking just as hard - how I didn't hit him I don't really know. On the back straight I was catching, but not enough to attack, and besides that he was already moving on the straight to discourage me. Nose to tail though the Esses I fancied a run into Russells on him, which would mean staying close though the Bombhole and Coram. As we approached the turn in point for the bombhole Moore suddenly slowed. It was more than missing a gear or lifting - it was a brake test. I was naive enough to think a Mono driver wouldn't stoop to such dirty tactics, but clearly I was wrong. Anyway, I avoided him again, but it ruined my chance of a pass into Russells. ++++++++++++++++++++ What a fool... in fact the gearbox was throwing the gear out until the last 2 laps when it jamed in 4th... you can look on the MST website and see the drop in lap times. We found a 20p split pin jamed in the selector forks. If I wanted to brake test Tristan I would normally have to do this after lapping him :( |

I don't remember you ever lapping me. Not once. In fact, the first and only time I was lapped was by Jeremy Timms at Mallory this year. I felt, at the time, that it was more than a lift or a car jumping out of gear. But I suppose it could be you being a big girl through the bombhome? Maybe that's why you're 4 seconds off the pace in Club F3, and barely 1 second faster than in your Mono car? Oh well. Maybe one day you'll actually win something. Then you can shut up about two lap records (hardly worth shouting about, especially as everyone knows your engine wasn't exactly legal), and stop moaning and whining. Besides, I thought you knew about internet libel? Presumably you were the defendant in the case? Good luck at Brands. If you're lucky and drive REALLY well you might finish in the top 10! |

Anyway, how on earth can a split pin get to the selector forks? There aren't any split pins in that section of the gearbox! |

lol... engine wasnt legal...you are really barking up the wrong tree because it is exactly the same engine that was in Andy's car that YOU bought. If you think thats illegal then you better change engines. Our engine was in fact looked at very very carefully by the scruitineer at Angelsey as they were checking to see if it was VVT. They checked both my engine and Andy Uttleys at the same time. The fact is Tristan, you were just never fast enough to race us and find out which engine is quicker. Are you also calling the Harrisons cheats? or Jim Blockley? As you know the performance relationship between the three of us in Club F3 mirrors the results we had in Mono. The only time you could pass me Tristan I was stuck in 4th... go figure! |

We are changing the engine in ours, mostly because the engine isn't a very good one. Got to sort the dry sumping out because that would barely have worked (and cost power at the same time etc). But the engine in this car was not the same as the one in yours - the photos show clearly enough that it is very different. Regarding me speed, I was in my first EVER year of racing, in a car 13 years older than yours. I was never expecting to be as quick. Although I did out qualify you on a number of occasions, particularly at my 2nd ever race in the wet at Mallory. No, I would never call the Harrisons cheats. If there are many as honest and hard working as them then I'd be surprised! Same goes for Jim, although I don't him nearly as well. The performance relationship - you constantly being beaten by Mark? Oh, and stop moaning about the CF3 tyres. They are perfectly good. I use them in Mono, and despite Neils back-to-back tests showing a second per lap difference I am within a second of your times at several circuits... Go figure. |

Tristan, The fact is you have never beaten me except on the last lap of a race where my gearbox wasnt working, and even then you made a mess of it. You were so far off the rader when I was in MOno I didnt even know who you were until the last race of 07. In a year where there really are only two contenders, Jeremy and Neil, you have not managed to do anything.. reading your drible is like watching paint dry... you have never ever been in the same race as me or anyone fast in Mono. As far as your new car goes, why would you change anything? Do you think you and your Dad know something better than Dallara, Toms Toyota, or Nemesis? You are going down the same route as Geoff, changing a winning car for the sake of it. I predict that even though there will be fewer 2000 drivers in 2009, you are still going to be nowhere. And you are right, the engine in the F301 is not the same as we raced, Geoff elected to change it! |

Why should I have been racing you in my first year in such an older car? Why should I be racing against Neil and Jeremy this year? I have an older car, harder tyres and less experience (most circuits are still new to me). When I've outqualified Neil I've let him through into the first (or second) corner so as not to trouble his championship challenge. The dry sumping is certainly not in Tom's spec. Unless they made crank scrapers using tinsnips that missed the crank by about 30mm! Engine mounts that have no strength in compression or tension? Whilst Dallara and Tom's clearly know their stuff (even if some of their decisions are clearly based around economies of scale), I don't think it would be remotely difficult to improve on every single aspect of Nemesis preparation as it stands (although I gather it was a bit nicer when it was first prepared, but we've got what we've got, not what it was like). F The engine in the Uttley car is not the same as the one in your 301. Neither was the one that Geoff received, with a £2k bill to fix, according to various people, an oil leak. |

some more Tristanisms.... Richard Purcell wasn’t present at the meeting, which certainly helped by championship chances, although as he hasn’t outscored me yet this year in any meeting I’m not winning simply because of his no-shows A hollow victory in a way, as I'd much prefer pole, fastest lap and dominant victory in terrible conditions" |

and more drible from Tristan on his website..... "Yet again I had trouble passing Kevin Mason – despite being 5 seconds per lap slower, he still tried to block me, only this time I was wise to his terrible driving habits and passed him without much drama" I wonder what Kevin thinks!!! |

Whereas you seem to spend too much time on Mono/CF3 and presumably other forums winding people up. Whats the real reason for this latest outburst of bile and venom? Price of oil dropped too much recently? http://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/ |

You don't seem to be very quick even with petrol Phil. 1. The hollow victory was, as is easily understood, because I won whilst crashing, not because I've had no competition. 2. I reported Kevin Mason's driving standards at Rockingham, but could also cite examples at Snetterton and Anglesey. If the club follows its rules, then he knows I reported him. 3. The site gets updated about once per month (or perhaps once a fortnight if I'm keen). I can't update it daily as I'm too busy working during the day, fixing Reynards and Dallaras in the evening, seeing my girlfriend, acting, socialising with my friends... Not quite sure how you've decided I "don't get laid", but it sounds like you're a bit insecure about something. And I gather you're thinking of returning to Mono now that you've discovered how slow you are in CF3? See if you can defend your lap records at Spa and Snetterton (the only things you've achieved in Mono in, what, 4 years?). |

Ive won Spa and Snett twice, Ive got lap records at Spa, Snett, and Angelsey..Ive had lots of fastest laps, podiums etc... I don't think I have to worry about defending what Ive done in Mono to someone like you Tristan... oh I forgot... you are the Mono 'classic' champion (isnt that like kissing your sister). Im not planing on any return to Mono, there is unlikely to be any competition as I understand Neil Harrison and Jeremy Timms are unlikely to be racing in Mono next year.. beating you again isnt exactly going to raise the heart rate is it :D You slag off drivers on your website, you argue with people with much more knowledge, experiance, and respect than you have on 10-tenths, why dont you spend some of that energy on trying to drive faster? And as for the 'never getting laid thing'... come on Tristan... we all know you wear your chastity ring with pride :) :) :) |

There aren't many race winners that go down in the Mono history books. Glad you aren't considering coming back. You'd only come third again. I've ben led to understand that JT hasn't decided, and that Neil will be competing in Mono. We'll see. But there should be about 3 new Dallaras in Mono next year, and possibly all the ones currently there. A changing of the guard may be, but that doesn't make it 'less worthy', just as the older cars having their own class (Classic) doesn't make that any less worthy. Or do you view CF3 Masters class with equal venom? Maybe because some are quicker than you? I don't slag many other drivers off - just you and Kevin. With whom do I argue that are more knowledgable then I? Do tell, and the topic? Which bit of my arguments do you think I don't know about? You don't even know enough to judge my competence! Why don't you drive faster rather than consistently being beaten by nicer people? What were your lap times in an 883? Oh yes, I forgot, we can't compare lap times because of the car age gap. At Snet you are less than one second faster than me, with tyres that are worth a second per lap, better aero and more downforce (probably). Go figure. As for the chastity comment, is that all you can think about? Normal people grow out of that when they hit 14. |

So you think you are faster at Snett than Mark Harrison, Jonathan Lewis, Jim Blockley et al.... you are such a twat :D |
| Tristan |
posted 9/24/08 9:03 PM
I didn't say that. Perhaps they don't teach reading and comprehension in Kiwi school, but I was merely stating that my lap times at Snetterton are respectable considering the age of vehicle, type of tyre and experience of driver. On the other hand I will be disappointed if the Dallara only ends up less than a second quicker than the Reynard, but that's my problem. |

Quote from Tristans For Sale add on Mono website +++++++++++++++++ 2008 season started with an outright Monoposto 2000 victory and has seen six class wins, (twice runner up), six fastest laps, and two outright pole positions in the wet and has dominated the Classic class (CSCC words not mine) with 2 races to go. Only regularly beaten in Monoposto by late 1990’s Dallaras, that race in a different class. One of the prettiest cars on any grid! ++++++++++++++++ Actually the season opener was at Snetterton where Neil Harrison won from Jeremy Timms, Tristan finished 4th (behind Nick Anstruther) 26.8 seconds behind the winner after only 7 laps. |
