They wont allow a new bank because they think someone might drive in one persons yard and endanger their life. But they can raise the speed limit in town and cut the police to almost nothing, endangering all of us that live in town!!! take a walk in downtown and look at how many business are closed or boarded up. It's starting to look a lot like Pontiac. Two thumbs down to our city council. :o( :o( |

I think there is a lot more to it than just using public safety as an excuse. Let's face it Tri-county ownes this town, and everyone on the city council has some kind of tie to Tri-county. Tri-county probably feels threatend by a new bank since so many people are tired of their practices and can't wait for another bank to open locally. To make a long story short, I can't stand tri-county. Shame on city council for letting tri-county have their way once again!!!! |

Ok Why would Brown City need another bank in town? Hell they don't even need the 3 bank sites for Tri-county there. All they need is just one bank. But with a ATM in Ben's. |

I hope a new bank does open up. My daughter had an account with tri-county. She worked in Yale. She deposited her pay check on Friday and they didn't apply it to her account till the following Wednesday. So all her bills that she paid on Friday bounced. Needless to say, she had a lot of overdraft fees to pay. |

Connie, Not just another bank! A different bank to give people a choice and to promote competition. Yes, there are three banks in town, but they are all the same bank!!! That seems a little rediculous to me. A different bank would create revenue for the city and jobs for its citizens. Just as another grocery store would. That is as long as it wasn't owned by Bens. |

Dear DLD, Sorry to here about your daughters problem with the bank. I hope your daughter fought them about the over draft fees!! As long as a check is not from out of state, it should only take one day to clear. With everything being on-line now days, banking is much faster and more efficient. I would be asking why her out checks cleared before her deposit. Also, they knew that the funds were there so why didn't they just put a hold on all incoming transactions??? I have an account at Tri-county, but, I also have an account at chase in Marlette. Do to the simple fact that Tri-county can be *$@holes sometimes. Good luck, LAM |

Brown City is not all that big. There is no growth there. If your so unhappy with Tri-County then use another bank in other towns. Heck one business had gone out of business while I was up there. Because he was not getting the business. |

There is use to be a IGA back in the 60's and 70's it closed down. Ben move his store from the other end of town to the other. He must be doing something right to stay in business and his store keeps growing. Brown City need more stores and maybe a fast food place. But Brown City is just not all the big. |

Dear Connie, I do have an account at another bank in another town. I would also like to see our town flurish with new jobs and businesses for its citizens. But, city hall makes it very difficult to open a new business here. Just look at how many hoops that poor Italian woman had to jump threw to open a new resturant. She put a lot of money and work into that place and City hall put her through hell. I think she was only able to open for one day before she had to close it down. |
