Hooray! I am a mod. :D Hi Jen, Mike, Laura. Vilkomen and what not. Travis made us this nifty MB to use. Yay for us. I was thinking, once RoA is fully up and running (which will be soon, coz I have my trapper keeper now!) and we've played into the 1st level thingy some, what say we do that 32nd level game too? I know we've all been itching to do that. ;) |

This mb is hosted by a free website thingy, so ads a-plenty. Unfortunatly, I can't change the format of the mb except for colors. The reason I submitted this instead of no ads and complete power over mb is because of a few different reasons: No ads - costs money to get a site to host with no ads Complete editing power - I would probably need to host it on my own computer and that won't be as reliable as a webserver (ex. i could reboot my computer while you are posting and lose all of it) If you would like me to host it on my computer, I could make sure that it is up and running during certain hours so as not to lose anyone's posts. Your choice. Also, would you be interested in a website makeover? I can try a few things and show ya. |

May I not use frames? I can make it look like frames though. It is just that frames are a little more difficult to maintain than a single html file (I dislike them, also). But, as the dm, your word is law. |

ATTENTION, FOO'S!!! Aside from a little bit o' tweaking, RoA is ready to play! The following information is missing: The Mage Knight PrC info. A couple names have to be changed around in the Realms section, but no major changes will be made. So, pick yo shit and start making your characters! :D Oh yeah, and I have to put up the Calendar section, so all the years listed in history and whatnot aren't so bloody confusing to you. Just so you know, the present year is 3325ca (that's Coming of the Archmagi), and the date is 6 Dandeon (spring, in other words). And Travis, don't forget to put up all the info! We don't want people confuzzled. :P http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadecia/index.html Realms of Acadecia Homepage [This message has been edited on 09/26/2004] [This message has been edited on 09/26/2004] |

Travis, new updates. The Races page has been updated. The calendar page has been updated. Certain environmental racial variants (such as the desert gnomes and the arctic dwarves) have been added to the Races page. Anyone who wants to can take a gander at these races and use them if they wish. The calendar page is worth a look, if for nothing else than to get an understanding of the months of the year. I'll have a little ditty on the CA/DR/PDR eras in there shortly. http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadecia/index.html Realms of Acadecia Homepage |

Every monastic order allows multiclassing with a few restrictions. Check out the Organization page for details. --- --- Travis, one last update (for a long while, anyway). The following pages all need updating: Calendar Classes Gameplay Races Realms Once these are updated, all necessary information should be there for people to make chars, and we can post that pretty little protosite on the Net to show off and drool over and occasionally hump when we think no one is looking! ...... Don't use a basic editor or anything that angelfire suggests. It will screw up the html I put in those files. Edit them directly. I think it does this by default for my files all ready. If you can, update the footer.html to include anything I forgot. Also, if you need a refence point for the setup of the website, check out template.html, I made it for copying. I am still in search of a better message board. Charter doesn't support SSI or PHP so, for now, I don't think the website needs to be moved. http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadeciaReborn Acadecia Reborn Website |

I've got 500 gig for my site(s). If you don't mind a subdomain I can fix one up for you. It's the latest PHP support and you could have one PHP page pulling all your content pages in. That way you'd only have one nav section... There's a messageboard as well. It's ad free as well. I pay for it anyways for my business sites and a few domains for businesses I host. Let me know! |

I am interested. Do you have some more information about signing up or the main web address of these sites? Our budget is $0.00. So if there is a fee anywhere involved, I don't think we can do it. http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadeciaReborn Acadecia Reborn Website |

Nah, there's no fee involved at all. I've got two registered domains, hexxagoncorps.com and truedark.com. I could set up a subdomain on either one. I've actually got another 4 domains to use but that requires that it be registered (that's a pretty small fee from any number of places running around 10 to 15 bucks a year) if you want your own base domain like www.acadecia.com. Otherwise, I can set up a subdomain on either site. Something like acadecia.truedark.com (or the same with hexxagoncorps.com)would work fine. I could parallel this site for a while and we could see how it works out as well first. A "trial" run as a test. :) I pulled the site down and built it as a PHP site last night just in case you were interested. I can push it up and set up the message board tonight. The hexxagoncorps site is my web-business site and the truedark site is, at some point in time, going to be an online game store or store portal for a bunch of different product. I've basically been using it for a design and code playground. The subdomain (i.e. acadedia) wouldn't be affected by any of the other stuff I do on the truedark domain. It would be in it's own section / folder. |

Ryfte is a buddy from the Wizards message boards. Don't worry, he's cool. Just don't feed him microwaved chicken after midnight. :) Something that uses the same code format as Wizards would be nice (i.e. the "[" instead of the "<" stuff). What's that called again? EZcode or somethin'? But anyway, whatever it is will be better than this. Now the Anti-Spam code is up to SIX digits. Ugh. ;P |

Ryfte, if you could set up the site at acadecia.truedark.com, for a test run, that would be neat. Since you mirrored it, you might have missed the header.html, sidebar.html, and footer.html that I had included with SSI. Will we have our own username and password to edit the website? http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadeciaReborn Acadecia Reborn Website |

I can set up just about anything. The easiest thing for me to do is just give you universal rights for the directory I set up. that way you can ftp it with any ftp or editor. I'll have to do a bit of research on the messageboard. No big deal since I've been meaning to look into it further. Yup, I'm from the WotC boards. I've been playing there for a bit over two years. "Deimos Phenom", heh, as he's called there, started a thread with this world there and I'm playing a h-orc marksman (read variant fighter) character. I had a really busy weekend! I'll throw up the site in the next day or so. Will it step on anyones' toes if I do some redesign work of a graphic nature for it? |

posted 10/25/04 10:42 PM
Hmmm, you want ot just email me a zip of the site directory with all the files? I can just slam those into place and then php tweak them! Would probably be a lot cleaner to begin with the original files. :) |

Ryfte, Thanks for all your help and thanks for asking before doing anything. But I would like to continue work on the website myself for the design aspect while Nathan works on his content part of it. I am trying to find time at the moment to do the graphics, possibly Tuesday this week. As for the phping of the website, I would like to use it as a learning experience for myself. I have messed around with php for a little bit and I want the practice with this website. I don't mean to offend if this is the case. It is just that last time I built a website and handed it over to someone else, it took a turn for the worse and ended up a disaster. Just makes me a little reluctent to do again. I hope you understand my feelings about this. Although, if Nathan wishes it a certain way, I did built this site for him and he can make decisions about it. But just to have something to upload to your server, I have zipped the currect files into acadecia.zip and uploaded it to this location: here. I also have a message board that I found in PHP that I could upload. It doesn't use a MySQL database but it uses text files. I was going to start out with it the way it is and work on converting it to my own purposes, MWAHAHAH! I uploaded it also if you would like to look at it or test it out. http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadeciaReborn Acadecia Reborn Website [This message has been edited on 10/26/2004] [This message has been edited on 10/26/2004] [This message has been edited on 10/26/2004] |

Just a suggestion. ;) Also, you might want to re-check the original site (er, the "Protosite", not the Blue Site of Death) as there are a couple new PrC's listed. Argh! Never mind, just ignore me. :p (Well, ignore comment about Mage Knight PrC, at any rate.) Hey Travis, you know what the best part about Ryfte's site? It's in frames!! *ROFL* |
| Ryfte |
posted 10/27/04 4:32 PM
Actually... it's not! ;) The seperate page areas are all in "include containers" and the content area is in a div tag. I use the php to call the div element and plug in the content based on the variable passed by the left nav. Thus there's only one page, i.e. index.php with any full page layout information. The content pages are free form editable that way and "non-techs" can muck with them with little or no concern as to their html skills. This is a mix of PHP and DHTML and works pretty well. It helps that I've been doing this, as I sais, a LOOOOOONG time! http://www.truedark.com/acadecia/index.php Parallel Acadecia Site |

After actually seeing what you have done with the site over there, I think that maybe we should let you finish what you had planned. I bow down to your 1337 skills. Could you change the title graphic so that "Acadecia" is in the largest font? It seems that the emphasise is on the larger text, in this case, which is "Realms" doesn't seem to fit, at least with me. Otherwise, I feel the website would be in better hands with you. And stickin' it to Nathan about the frames was a nice bonus! :p http://www.angelfire.com/sd/golemworld/acadeciaReborn Acadecia Reborn Website |
