Hello,I was just wondering if any members of that mad drums platoon from Hemer 1983/84 were out there. I can remember all the names (Hardon, Yatesy, Bung, Nobby, Sam, Pidge, Wardy, Drummie Edwards etc) would particularly like to get backin touch with Mario (the spick) Larosa. We met up in the late eighties but lost touch after I left the UK. Would love to hear from anyone from that time. All the best. Philip aka Lanks aka stretch

Philip Welch - I was in the drums platoon for 83 and 84. I actually arrived at the battalion on the night of an active edge call out on February 1st 1983 with privates Morris and Steer. I was in D Block with Larosa, Joe Garner and Yatesy. You may remember me for never having scarlets to fit as I was too big.I don't recall anyone called Beardsley in drums at that time

The eyes grow dim and memory fails - I remember you very faintly. Beardsley, if I recall right was in the Band?

Not sure about Beardsley. I was only in the Regiment for 3 years and my memory is probably sharper as there are fewer people for me to remember. I left the drums in Warminster and went to 6 platoon in B Company (what fun that was :-)). You were at that time about the age I am now (42) and so must have been about to leave the army. I imagine in some twenty or so years in the batallion you would have met many people, I would have stood out more for my height and extreme skinniness more than my musical or soldierly skills.
