sadie (Larissa)	posted 5/17/05 6:53 PM I have a poem about the Holocaust: THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. THEN THEY CAME for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because because I wasn't a Jew. THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. THEN THEY CAME for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. THEN THEY CAME for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up. Tell me what you think.

Darkness comes and Darkness falls Creeping shadows On the walls Death is near Death is here Why's our fear So unclear Falling far and Falling fast All the shadows Of the past Walking towards you Walking by Death awakes you With a cry We're fighting back We'll make fear fall Together we stand United we fall See I told you I'm not that good at poetry.I'm a writer but poetry is not one of my strong points.I think I will give up on poetry for good unless you guys think I should do otherwise.If not I think I will stick with writing my book and my many other stories. Oh ...SSOORRYY.I've been babbling... Bye.

Too bad it's a really well known paraphrasing of a speech to congress by Martin Niemoller that was definitely written long before you were born. I've got an idea! If you're going to post a poem online or anywhere else and ask what people think about it, you should really WRITE THE POEM YOURSELF or at least CREDIT the person that did. Failing to do so is called PLAGIARISM and it's BAD and NOT just because it's illegal. Krista and I are WRITERS and we have both been plagiarized in the past. We will certainly not put up with it here. Maybe when it's finished, I'll post MY new poem here. It's called "Death to Cartoon Network Teenyboppers." http://www.utukki.com

I still don't quite understand how a ballad is really supposed to work. =__=; But anywho, here is mine: She was a colbalt maiden fay And all her kingdom Could glow all during night and day Such a kingdom, true. This kingdom had tall marble walls Long windows and some Green feilds that could stretch out one's calls Lived here, she of blue. Lured, she was, to the deep brown wood By her playful drum But she saw a beast of sin that would Taint her maiden's view. Now this beast did the worst of deed That caused hearts to numb She exciled for her kingdom's needs And bid her home Adieu. Ballads are severly hard to write. I really don't like some of the lines in that one... x__X; But poets say that a poem which is finished is actually a poem that was abandoned. In otherwords, this could still be a work in progress. xD
