Hello,
I am a 24 year old student from scotland and I will soon be arriving in illinois for the duration of one year.
I am hoping to meet scots vie the st andrews society and I have a question to ask regarding this organisation.
Are the members of the society real scots ie; born and/or raised in scotland. Or is the society predominantly made up of americans.
Kind Regards
Sean Macgregor

Hello Sean. Our St. Andrew's Society is made up predominantly of people of Scottish (Celtic) Heritage. We have some "real Scots" as well. And as well, like myself, born in this country of Scottish parents.
In addition, we welcome people representing the Seven Nations. Therefore,we have Irish, Welsh, and even English members.
Being a small city in the midwest of this country, it is unbelievable that we have the membership and activities that we have.
The Society has a championship pipe band, highland and Irish dancers, gaelic lessons, Burns Dinner, our own highly respected Highland Games, and activities all throughout the year.
We will welcome you and look forward to meeting you.
