This was taken from a news article: "A former Nevada Union High student died in a car crash Wednesday. Keith David Wilson, 18, of Marysville, was driving to pick up his independent study diploma from Nevada Union when the deadly crash occurred, said Cindy Wilson, his mother. "He was the light of our life," Cindy Wilson said. She described her son as a hard worker and a happy kid. He was also a champion rodeo rider, winning the 1999 Junior World Championship for bull riding at Plymouth, Mass. Wilson had attended Nevada Union during his freshman, sophomore and part of the senior year. Students on the last day of classes at Nevada Union were coming into the crisis counseling office all day Thursday, said Linda Grotke, the school's crisis counselor. Some students were too upset to take finals, Grotke said. Wilson was killed when his 2002 Mustang went off Highway 20, hitting an embankment and flipping end over end twice, the California Highway Patrol reported. Wilson was not using a seat belt, according to the CHP. The crash occurred at 4:32 p.m. Wilson was driving eastbound at a high rate of speed and encountered a slower vehicle in the same lane, causing him to swerve left into the westbound lane before running off the road, according to the CHP. The crash occurred west of Smartville. Wilson was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where he died from injuries suffered in the crash." Now, you're probably wondering why Miss Special, generally a funny person, would post such an unfunny thing. Here's why: I knew the guy. I never really considered him a friend, but I knew him since around second grade, maybe longer. And so I feel bad. And this is my way of dealing with it (I hope it makes me feel better. I didn't think I'd get teary over it, yet I am): Don't do anything stupid like that. Wear your seatbelt, and don't drive at unsafe speeds, even if you're trying out your new Mustang. I'd like to write more, but I have to cut this short. :( I'm sorry to hear that, Miss Special. It's terribly sad when someone so young and with so much promise dies because of something as silly as reckless driving. I wear my seatbelt whenever I go driving (although I myself can't drive a car yet, legal age is 18 here.) It was a sad article, but the message in it was very real, so I harp upon Miss Special's word: Don't speed and don't forget to wear a seatbelt. They're there for your safety, so use them. :( I'm sorry, Miss Special. I wear my seatbelt every time but I know *and have seen* some crazy drivers out there. Prayers to you and his family. |

Holy crap! Not ANOTHER ONE! I was a Nevada Union student. Many people I went to that school died. Laura Wilcox, Derek Snellings, Cierra Davis, and Raymond Lang. MY HIGH SCHOOL IS CURSE AND I WILL DIE!!!!!!! |
