Message from Hello, My name is Laura Elliott and I work for a local charity based in Newcastle, Comrades of Children Overseas (COCO). COCO was set up by Olympian Steve Cram back in 2000 and we fund health and education projects aimed at improving the lives of children living in countries like Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda and Ghana. Every year we run a student trip to Kilimanjaro and I wondered if the trip may appeal to members of your society at Northumbria? Climbing Kilimanjaro is a great challenge and if celebrities like Chris Moyles can get to the top of Kili then I’m sure your members will have no problems! The trip normally occurs in July and we are aiming to recruit 40 or more students to take part for 2010. COCO organise the entire trip, from the flights to accommodation and trek details. All we ask is that students fundraise a minimum of £2800 in return. If this is something that would be of interest to your club please let me know and I would be more than happy to provide you with more details about the trip and what COCO do. To find out more about COCO you can visit www.coco.org.uk. Many thanks, Laura Laura Elliott Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator Comrades of Children Overseas www.coco.org.uk +44 (0)191 261 7427 3rd Floor, 14 Blandford Sqaure, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4HZ http://www.coco.org.uk |
