Greetings Sisters of Omega Phi Alpha: This letter is to notify your organization of a great opportunity to receive community service hours. On Saturday September 20th I'm helping to host a "Rock the Vote" event at which thousands of college students from all over Kentucky will gather at Fox Run estate for a 24 hour event that “Rocks for a Cause.” The show will be featuring Nappy Roots & Jonathan Webb. We will be urging students in the Kentucky area to get out and vote this November and for people who aren't registered we will have registration cards at the event where people can get signed up at that time. For participating and helping encourage fellow students to get out and vote, each Greek member who attends the event will receive 5 volunteer hours. So, by simply being present at the concert, each organization will receive 5 volunteer hours per member in attendance for supporting the cause. To better explain the event itself, it will be held in Shelbyville, KY on a 30 acre farm which is 20 minutes from Louisville and 40 minutes from Lexington. People will have the option to stay just for the afternoon or they can camp throughout the night. We will have a camping area where tents are permitted. Music will start in the afternoon and the feature performers, Nappy Roots and Jonathan Webb, will begin performing in the evening and the music will continue late into the night. General admission tickets will be available online at ticketmaster.com or they may be purchased at the gate on the day of the show for $10. If your organization would like to attend they can pre-order tickets and get a group rate for $7 per person. Like I was saying before, this will be held on a 30 acre estate and we are inviting organizations from every school around Kentucky, so if you plan on bringing a group of people let us know and we can reserve a spot for you on the farm where you all can park together and camp.
