Seriously, I mean what would happen if the game were changed to "nail the nigger to the post." You can bet there would be an uproar. Why is it that anyone who disagrees with your point of view is an overpriveleged lazy white boy from suburbia? Do you even begine to realize that there are competent people in the world who don't see things your way? Of course not. Failing to recognize this is the #1 sign of an immature mind. There are people who do believe in the Freedom of Speech, even people who DON'T like this cartoon have defended the Medium's freedom of speech. You people seem to think that freedom of speech is limited to speech that YOU want to hear. If the only speech that was protected was speech that other people wanted to hear, we'd have a very intellectual society indeed. In fact, if that were the case, then you wouldn't be able to say what you're saying right now, because I don't want to hear it. Do you grasp this concept? |

Hi. I happen to be a contributor to The Medium, and I also happen to be Jewish (although non-religious). I heard about the whole big deal on the news and in the paper and this is my opinion. The Medium is a weekly "humor" publication. Which means, anything you read in it should be taken as that. It's always been about being offensive which is what makes it awesome. I see no one getting outraged when each week it rips on asians, blacks, gays, rutgers sluts,etc. Hell, The Medium is known to rip on the university president and that should've caused a bigger outrage than that "Jew Cartoon" they did. I just think people need to lighten up. Yes, the Holocaust did happen and it was a terrible thing. We can't forget it happened but at the same time, we need to understand that the cartoon was done to get a laugh out of people, not to promote racism and hatred. This Jew is only gonna comment on two things: 1)The Holocaust caused a lot of Jews grief. This is why making fun of it got some folks upset. 2) 9/11 is no reason to vote for Bush. How do we know Dubya didn't originate the attacks? |
