Second Witness for the ProsecutionLucy TestLT: I swear that the evidence I give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. RH: Thank you for coming today Mrs Test, I understand that this must be very difficult for you, and if you need to stop or take a break at any time, that’s OK. Can you tell the court about the day Adam went missing?LT: I got home from work at around 4pm; the children get home an hour earlier and usually do their homework before I get back. When I got home that day, Jack, my eldest son, was in the garden, and I asked if he wanted a barbeque for dinner, we could all eat on the patio. He said yes and I told him to go and get the other children while I put the burgers on to cook. When Jack came back with Natalie, Kurtis and Deanna I asked where Adam was. Natalie said he hadn’t come home on the school bus with them, and she didn’t know where he was. I telephoned the school and they said Adam hadn’t been to any of his classes after lunch. I then telephoned my ex-husband Alex, and asked if Adam was with him, or if he had seen him, and when he said he hadn’t I started to panic. Alex said he’d come over, and I called the police. Alex and Lieutenant Kosminski arrived at about the same time; it was about 5:30 or 6 by then.RH: And then what happened?LT: The police officer, Lieutenant Kosminski, took a description of Adam and his school photograph and said they would get a search team out to look for him.RH: Did anything else happen that night?LT: No, we just waited for them to find Adam and bring him home.RH: But they didn’t?LT: (begins to cry) No, they didn’t find him that night, and they never brought him home.RH: Would you like to take a break Mrs Test?LT: No, no, I’m OKRH: OK, I realise how hard this must be for you, but can you tell me about the day they found Adam?LT: Lieutenant Kosminski came to the house and said they had found the body of a boy and they thought it was Adam. He said someone would need to go and identify the body. Alex was over at the time and he said he’d go, but I had to. I had to see if it was my baby. Alex stayed behind to look after the other kids, and Lieutenant Kosminski and a female officer who’s name I don’t remember drove me to the hospital and to the viewing room, I identified Adam, and after that everything is a bit of a blur, I don’t really remember getting home, all I could see was my baby lying there. RH: Thanks you very much Mrs Test, no further questionsAL: We have no questions for this witness either.
