Opening Statement for the ProsecutionPresented by Rachel Hunter QCThis is a disturbing case of an evil man murdering an innocent child to try and cover up his own illicit activities. A child that had done no wrong, a ten-year-old loved little boy. A murder that has torn apart a family.During this trial we will prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant, Gregory Hansworth, kidnapped and murdered ten-year-old Adam Test, in cold blood.You will hear evidence of the sordid activities of Mr Hansworth, the activities that led him to the crime of Murder. You will also hear from witnesses, both ordinary people like yourselves, and experts who will try and interpret the evidence for you.My colleague for the defence will no doubt try and confuse you, and try to distract you from the important task that you are here for, but don’t fall for his antics, and above all else try to remember the little boy who meant so much to his family, and so little to this brutal killer.
