I have just recently found out that my grandfather Clarence (Cormier) Cormiae is from the town. I have spent many hours trying to find something out about my heritage but have always encountered a brick wall. I would be anxious to correspond with anyone that would have any information regarding my grandfather. I was a baby when he passed away and my grandmother was a very close-lipped, proud Irishman. She was not eager to speak of the past, even her own, which left us all with little or nothing regarding the family. I have found a tiny bit of family in the 1910 census, that's all. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Marie L. Cormiae Aberdeen, Washington |

Hi Marie, it is a small world. My Gr-GR Grandfather was Jude Cormier. Clarence was his son and a brother to Jude II. Apparently Clarence left fro Mass. to find work when the mines were closed in Joggins. Dara Keep in touch |

I don't know if this has been well advertised in the USA or not. This August 1 -15 there will be a celebration of evryone with Acadian ancestry in Nova Scotia. It is called CMA 2004. There may be a Cormier family reunion held in this area. In 1994 almost 2000 Cormiers attended the reunion. Do a search for CMA2004 and check out the web site. |

Hi Dara; We've touched base before about possibly having relatives in common when I was just starting into my genealogy research in hopes of getting a book done for my Dad's birthday. Well, the book was a great success (won't ever be finished though with the masses of relatives we have lol) and in doing that research I discovered that my GGGrandparents are Jude and Isabelle/Elizabeth (LeBlanc) Cormier. Their son Edouard (Edward) is/was my GGrandfather...soooo, nice to meet you cousin :-) I'm flying by the seat of my pants as far as making it there for the Congrés Mondiale 2004, but am still keeping my fingers crossed. Take care, Nova |

This may be a little bit late but; the Cormier Family Reunion held in River Hebert this summer was a huge success. Almost 700 Cormiers from NS, NB, LA, MA and other states and provinces attended. I think all the Cormiers from Joggins were there. Thanks to all who attended. Dara |

Just found this site. Through the family tree, I found Louise Cormier, my gg grandmother. She married Jean Richard. Small world. Are there any plans for a get together this summer? I'm coming home for three weeks. I can't wait. Would love to meet some long lost relatives. Karen |

My Father Harold John Cormier's 1st cousins were Lawrence, Thaddee (he had 1 arm), Albert, Annie and more.I believe they are children of Jude Cormier (1865-1932) + Isabelle (White) LeBlanc. My Grandfather Tilman Joseph Cormier must have been a brother to Jude (1879?-1966). We believe Tilman had 4 siblings Annie, Jane, Albert (died in WW1) and a bros who moved to the U.S. Tilman married Sarah Burbine. |

Hi Dara, I am looking for a picture of the Albert Cormier home that was down by Buddy's house. Buddy is Uncle Joe's friend, I saw a picture of his house on the side of the store. Can you help? It was a two story house with a long staircase on the side of the house. I was in it once. http://pjewers.com pjewers.com |
