yeah, so I went to the 4th of July firework festivities at the sandy city hall, and was more or less sickened by the ridiculous displays of, well, we'll call it "patriotism" for lack of a better term, but anyway, thats not really the point. actually it is sort of. I am fucking sick of people buying old navy flag tees for 6 bucks and deciding their patriotic. if they were really patriotic, they would make their own flag tee instead of buying one from a company known to be part of a conglomerate that is known to not only employ child labor but is also currently destroying old growth forests in oregon. Also, the playing of both Born in the USA and the Jimi Hendrix version of the star spangled banner at fireworks shows needs to be stopped. nobody understands the true meaning of these songs and why they are wholly ironic and inappropriate for a group of people celebrating the aforementioned "patriotism" while we are on the subject of songs that need to be stopped, the ymca being sung by a bunch of straight white guys and a girl needs to be stopped. So does the playing of Walk This Way. while it is an enjoyable song, no one understands what it is about, and so you get a bunch of 14-18 year old girls dancing to it in front of the stage, or at a pep rally as juan diego experienced in this last school year. anyway, i just had to rant. It was just too much tonight. oh, also the singing of the pledge of allegiance needs to be stopped its a pledge not a fucking SONG. you can't sing a pledge, especially if you interrupt it with false freedoms that upper middle class white utahns think are in the Constitution like"freedom from fear," or the best of all "freedom from want" have these people never visited a homeless shelter. fuck that. i hate stupid people because they annoy me, they don't understand the true irony of their entire selfish lives. im done for now, im sure there will be more on the 24th.
