Dictionary.com defines the word read as "To examine and grasp the meaning of." The definition of examine is "To observe carefully or critically; inspect: examined the room for clues." The definition of observe is "To watch attentively: observe a child's behavior." The definition of watch is "To look or observe attentively or carefully; be closely observant: watching for trail markers."
