Hello all. My husband and I just had our first child a few months ago and some problems have to come mind. I've been a practicing witch for a decade if not more and faced my share of problems with Christians and others. I will not hide myself for my faith and I want my daughter to learn my skills as a hedge witch. If she chooses a different path that would be fine but I would like to pass the knowledge on to her. Here's my question, Is it worth the obsicals that I know would be in her way to bring her along my path for a while? |

Merry meet Duvessa! First of all let me congratulate you with the birth of your daughter! Health and good life to her! To answer your question is not easy, raising children is a great task! Personally I do think it is worth all the obstacles. I was raised very free by my mother who was a Hedge witch herself and my father who was a pagan but not a very active one, I grew up near a small very christian village where I had to go to school, When I was very young it gave some minor problems nothing too serious I was very interested in their religion and I could talk about it at home. My mother has always thought me to think for myself and to respect other peoples differences. I did experience some though times because of our Wiccan ways, it was not always easy but to me it was most certainly worth it! I have learned from all sorts of people and religions in life without being coursed into any yet at the same time I was given a strong foundation through Wicca which I found very comforting. Now we never now what life brings us or what paths our children choose to take, my brother for example enjoyed the same upbringing as I have; first he decided when he was 18 years old that he would become a Roman-catholic Christian and he did and he stayed with the catholic church for 12 years, Now he is a devout Buddhist for nearly 20 years! I always feel that as a witch one can adept any or every religion into ones life Nature is part of us all and all of us are part of nature. I hope these here thoughts of mine help in some way however slight! And all the best wishes for you as a Mother and for you Child, may you both have a happy and fulfilling life! Blessed be! and Shine Bright! |

Religion aside, herbalism has been practiced throughout the ages. Herbal knowledge is a beautiful thing to pass on! |

Hello Duvessa, just wanted to share with you. My seven year old son asked if he could make an incense with me, it was no different from baking a cake, he loved making it and called it 'Giant's Garden' after a story that he likes where a giant that learns that his mean-ness in banishing children from his garden brings on himself an ever lasting winter until he invites them back. My 2 year old, at bed time the other night asked to see my crystals and without ever having been shown, started placing them on his dad who was laying on the sofa with his top off. He was very absorbed in what he was doing and placed 'Tiger' (tigers eye) 'on tummy' blood stone over the heart, 'Hair' (rutilated quartz) on his dads bald head and amber and turquoise in his hand. I don't know anything about crystals other than they are pretty and looked up a few that he used. It seems he was working on the defense and elimination of toxins around the head, if I understood correctly. My partner said that he started noticing colours were a little more vivid. Both my children are very peaceful, interested in life and love to learn. My seven year old son is very confident and teachers say that he is a lovely boy to teach and has an excellent general knowledge. His down fall is that he doesn't understand why people are nasty for no reason. Like bullies at school. Unlike what I was like as a child, he hates fighting, I used to fight all the time! http://www.wiccaboxofglory.co.uk Supplies to support modern Celtic/Pagan lifestyles, traditions and religion. |
