Great website and I'm so grateful for the info on the early Geddes history. I've been researching family history and got back to Peebleshire in mid 1700s but couldn't fit it with the family mythology of Sharing Knowe - which had become SharraNo (translated as 'I share with none') by the time I heard about it, nor could I find the highland link. So, many thanks!
For info, the Geddes Lairds of Kirkud and Peeblesshire had become v. respectable, rich and successful by the 1750s. My branch was primarily concerned with glass-making and owned/controlled flint glass factories in Edinburgh, Leith, Glasgow, Alloa and Scotland. I have detailed informaiton from around this time if anyone is interested.
All the best to all Geddes'/Geddie/Geds out there.

Yes, thank you, Melissa. Any info or photos/portraits of the Geddes works during the 18th century (and later) would be of interest on GeddieWorld.
