Seeking Alabama born parents of my wife's grandfather, Dan GEDDIE, a farmer, age 37, born Nov 1862 in Alabama. Enumerated in U.S. Census by Newton L. Whitfield on June 4, 1900, in E.D. 62, at Moundville, Beat #12, Hale Co., Alabama, USA. Married 10 yrs. Father of 3 sons and 1 dau. A second dau. was b.1903. Dan died in 1905. His full name was Daniel James (or James Daniel) GEDDIE. Parents of his wife, Sarah E.(Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" JOHNSTON)lived nearby. They were Francis Marion and Panthea (Abernathy) JOHNSON/JOHNSTON. The widowed Sarah married a second time between 1905 and 1907 to William Butler HICKS. Historical documentation is limited for "Dan" Daniel James GEDDIE. My father-in-law, John Dougald GEDDIE, his second son said Dan farmed rented land in the midst of present day Moundville State Monument.
