I'm so excited I don't know where to start, I have only just discovered
my connection to the Geddie family and was so excited when my husband
found you website. I am connected to the family of William who married
Barbara Cameron. Barbara is a sister to my GG Grandmother (she mariried
William ROBERTSON, Ropemaker of Elgin) and your pictures of her family
are the first I have ever seen of my Scottish relatives. William and Ann
Cameron's son, William Hustwick, came to Tasmania, in the early 1880's
and to my knowledge there is not a photo of him and my family had none
of his family in Scotland. My mother was born after he died and has not
seen photos of her relatives either. Her father was named Gerald Cameron
Robertson, after his grand mother, and he had a brother named Frederick
Marshall Robertson with his great grandmother's maiden name. I gave my
son also the second name of Cameron after my grandfather who I was very
fond of but did not know at that time of the family connection.
I can't read all the dates on the family sheet but I think it reads
Barbara died the 27/2/1890 before the tragic deaths of her sons. It must
have been devastating for William, I have lost a son and can't imagine
how you would cope loosing two at once. But I supose we must, and as
family history teaches us, life goes on. Did John also die in January
1896 or am I reading it incorrectly?
Are there any descendants of this family living? I have never found any
of my ancesters back in Scotland or England (on other sides) it would be
lovely to make contact with one. I did get to Elgin in 1997 but I had
only just started my family hisory and didn't know enough to look for
all my relatives. My husband had to go to UK for work and we took a
little time to go to where his family came from, and Elgin where my
Robertson's and Cameron's came from, though I didn't know that at the
time. We had 24 hours in Elgin and I did find where my GG grandfather
was buried and his father and brother were also buried there. I
purchased death certiificates for William and Ann Cameron and those
details started me off when I arrived home. I have searched census
records etc. but since I have been able to purchase certificates online
I have made some headway...
One more thing, the Davidson's in Texas are they my Barbara's family?.
Kindest Regards
