wondering if anyone knows when the willow flies/ mayflies run on the lake, i've heard stories how every fish on the lake bites during this time, and you can barely walk on the docks at the marina at night the swarm is so thick, is this true or are old timers just yankin me? |

well young wipper-snapper, there is about two days in early summer when these little jewels emerge to breed, spending 2-3 years under water prior to emerging, once they breed they lay eggs and die as they do not have mouthparts to eat, timing is depends on water temp and varies, but they all do come out at the same time, and yes they also trigger a feeding frenzy, you little wipper-snapper |
